Carlos Gael Acosta Zavala (born 26 March 1992) is a Mexican professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Greek Super League 2 club AEL. [2]
Acosta was discovered by C.F. Monterrey while playing in a national U16 tournament in 2008. He played for their developmental team, Rayados de Monterrey, and made his first team debut on 4 May 2013, coming on as a 72' substitute for Omar Arellano in a 5–1 loss against Cruz Azul. [3] He scored his first professional goal on August 21, 2013, during a Copa MX match against Altamira with a 68' left-footed strike. [4]
He was loaned out to Atlante in December 2013, along with Luis Madrigal, and spent six months with the Cancún team before returning in June. [5] [6]

Club de Fútbol Monterrey is a Mexican professional football club based in the Monterrey metropolitan area, Nuevo León. The team plays in Liga MX, the top tier of Mexican football. Founded on 28 June 1945, it is the oldest active professional team from the northern part of Mexico. Since 1999 the club has been owned by FEMSA, Latin America's largest bottling company. Its home games have been played in the Estadio BBVA since 2015. The team's nickname of Rayados stems from the club's traditional navy blue striped uniform. The 2012–13 Monterrey season was the 66th professional season of Mexico's top-flight football league. The season is split into two tournaments—the Torneo Apertura and the Torneo Clausura—each with identical formats and each contested by the same eighteen teams. Monterrey began their season on July 21, 2012 against América, Monterrey play their homes games on Saturdays at 7:00pm local time. Monterrey reached the quarter-finals of the Final phase in the Apertura tournament and reached the semi-finals in the Clausura tournament. Monterrey won their third straight CONCACAF Champions League after defeating Santos Laguna 4–2 on aggregate and qualified to the 2013 FIFA Club World Cup. Monterrey ended up in third place at the 2012 FIFA Club World Cup after defeating Al Ahly of Egypt in the third place match.

On December 2, 2012, Tijuana defeated Toluca 2–0 to win their first Liga MX title. Tijuana did not qualify to the final phase in the Clausura tournament and were eliminated by Atlético Mineiro in the quarter-finals of the Copa Libertadores.
