The Gage Golf and Curling Club (French: Club de Golf et Curling Gage) is a golf and curling club located at CFB Gagetown in Oromocto, New Brunswick. [2]

Contents

History

The golf club was built in 1950 and was designed by C. E. Robbie Robinson. [3]

In 2016, the golf course was damaged when someone drove onto the course, leaving behind empty beer cans in the process. [4]

Provincial champions (curling)

The curling club made news in 2020 when it sent a team to the Brier, the Scotties Tournament of Hearts and an junior mixed doubles event in Sweden. [5]

Curling Club championships

The club won the Canadian Curling Club Championships in 2023, when Abby Burgess and her rink of Brooke Tracy, Samantha Crook and Hannah Williams won the women's event. [6] The team went on to win the 2024 North American Curling Club Championship representing Canada. They defeated the United States team from the Madison Curling Club. [7]

He currently coaches the Joël Retornaz rink. He previously played third for Team Brad Jacobs, and the team represented Canada and won the gold medal at the 2014 Winter Olympics. The team also won the 2013 Tim Hortons Brier. Fry won a silver medal at the 2013 World Men's Curling Championship.

Dawn Kathleen McEwen is a Canadian semi-retired curler from Winnipeg, Manitoba. McEwen is a two-time world champion in curling, having won with Jones at the 2008 World Championships and again at the 2018 World Championships. In 2019, McEwen was named the greatest Canadian female lead in history in a TSN poll of broadcasters, reporters and top curlers.

The Ontario Tankard is the Southern Ontario provincial championship for men's curling. The winner represents Team Ontario at the Montana's Brier. The tournament is overseen by CurlON.

The SaskTel Tankard is the annual provincial championship for men's curling in Saskatchewan, with the winner representing the province at the Montana's Brier, the national men's championship. The bonspiel, which is organized by CURLSASK, the provincial curling association, is also known as the SaskTel Provincial Men's Curling Championship. SaskTel became the title sponsor in 2004; the Tankard was previously known as the Macdonald Tankard (1927–1979), the Labatt Tankard (1980–1994), the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool Tankard (1995–2003), and the SaskTel Mobility Tankard (2004–2006).

James Grattan, nicknamed "Jimmy the Kid" is a Canadian curler from Oromocto, New Brunswick. He currently skips his own team.

The 2012 New Brunswick Scotties Tournament of Hearts, New Brunswick's women's provincial curling championship, was held from January 25 to 29 at the Gage Golf & Curling Club in Oromocto, New Brunswick. The winning team of Rebecca Atkinson, represented New Brunswick at the 2012 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Red Deer, Alberta, finishing with a 5-6 record.

The Nutana Curling Club is a curling club located in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. Established in 1929 and first opening its doors in 1930, the club was originally located in the city's historic Nutana neighbourhood. The club relocated to the south-central Nutana Suburban Centre neighbourhood in 1966. Once one of six curling clubs in Saskatoon, Nutana is one of three clubs still operating along with the Sutherland Curling Club and the CN Curling Club.

The 2019 NB Tankard, the provincial men's curling championship of New Brunswick was held January 23 to 27 at Curl Moncton in Moncton, New Brunswick. The winning Terry Odishaw team represented New Brunswick at the 2019 Tim Hortons Brier in Brandon, Manitoba.

The 2019 Newfoundland and Labrador Men's Curling Championship, the men's provincial curling championship for Newfoundland and Labrador, was held from January 29 to February 3 at the Bally Haly Golf & Curling Club in St. John's. The winning Andrew Symonds team represented Newfoundland and Labrador at the 2019 Tim Hortons Brier, Canada's national men's curling championship in Brandon, Manitoba.

Katie Vandenborre is a Canadian curler from Fredericton, New Brunswick. She currently plays lead on Team Sylvie Quillian. She has won four New Brunswick Scotties Tournament of Hearts and two New Brunswick junior titles.

Sylvie Quillian is a Canadian curler from Riverview, New Brunswick. She currently skips her own team out of Curl Moncton in Moncton. She has won five New Brunswick Scotties Tournament of Hearts and was the New Brunswick provincial junior champion from 1999 to 2001.

The 2021 Scotties Tournament of Hearts, Canada's national women's curling championship, was held from February 19 to 28 at the Markin MacPhail Centre at Canada Olympic Park in Calgary, Alberta. The winning Kerri Einarson team represented Canada at the 2021 World Women's Curling Championship. The world championship was supposed to be held at the Curlinghalle Schaffhausen in Schaffhausen, Switzerland; however, the event was cancelled and rescheduled to the "Calgary bubble" of the Markin MacPhail Centre.

The 2023 Tim Hortons Brier, Canada's national men's curling championship, was held from March 3 to 12 at the Budweiser Gardens in London, Ontario. The defending champion Team Canada rink, skipped by Brad Gushue won the event, and would go on to represent Canada at the 2023 World Men's Curling Championship on home soil at TD Place Arena in Ottawa, Ontario, where they won a silver medal. It was a record fifth Brier title as a skip for Gushue.

The 2024 New Brunswick Scotties Tournament of Hearts, the provincial women's curling championship for New Brunswick, was held from January 17 to 21 at the Gage Golf and Curling Club in Oromocto, New Brunswick. The winning Melissa Adams rink represented New Brunswick at the 2024 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Calgary, Alberta where they finished eighth in Pool B with a 2–6 record.
