Hon. Justice Gail Ann Archer SC is a judge of the Supreme Court of Western Australia. [2]

Archer's father died when she was 17. [3] She graduated in jurisprudence and law from the University of Western Australia in 1988, [1] and commenced her legal career at the West Australian Crown Solicitor's Office in 1989, before joining the West Australian Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) in 1993, remaining there until 2002. [4] During her time at the DPP she conducted over 150 jury trials and represented the state in numerous matters in the Court of Appeal. [1] After her work at the DPP, she joined Legal Aid WA from 2002 to 2004 as principal counsel, before practicing as a barrister at Francis Burt Chambers. She was appointed senior counsel at chambers in 2007. [5] She joined the Independent Bar in 2004, [6] and sat as a Commissioner in the District Court for periods in 2005 and 2006. [4]

After completing a legislative review of the CCC Act, Archer was appointed as Acting Commissioner of the West Australian Corruption and Crime Commission in April 2008, [7] and resigned in February 2011. [8] During this time she taught forensic advocacy nationally and internationally, and was a coach in the Australian Bar Association's advanced advocacy course. [9] Archer was appointed a judge of the Supreme Court of Western Australia on 29 May 2017 after the resignation of the Hon. Justice David Newnes from 21 April 2017. [2]

Andrew Mark Mallard was a British-born Australian who was wrongfully convicted of murder in 1995 and sentenced to life imprisonment. Almost 12 years later, after an appeal to the High Court of Australia, his conviction was quashed and a retrial ordered. However, the charges against him were dropped and Mallard was released. At the time, the Director of Public Prosecutions stated that Mallard remained the prime suspect and that if further evidence became available he could still be prosecuted. He was released from prison in 2006 after his conviction was quashed by the High Court, and was paid $3.25 million compensation by the state government. The Western Australian Commission on Crime and Corruption investigated whether there was misconduct by any public officer associated with this case and made findings against two policemen and a senior prosecutor.

Major General Paul Le Gay Brereton, is a Judge of the New South Wales Court of Appeal and a senior officer in the Australian Army Reserve. He commanded the 5th Brigade from 2008 to 2010 and Head of the Cadet, Reserve and Employer Support Division from 2010 to 2014. He led an Inspector-General of the Australian Defence Force investigation into criminal misconduct on the battlefield by Australian Special forces in Afghanistan, issuing the Inspector-General of the Australian Defence Force Afghanistan Inquiry Report in November 2020. Bruce Thomas Lander was the first Independent Commissioner Against Corruption in South Australia. He was replaced by Ann Vanstone on 2 September 2020. He was formerly a Judge of the Federal Court of Australia.

Stephen Hall is an Australian jurist who is a judge of the Supreme Court of Western Australia. He was appointed to the general (trial) division of the court in 2009. In 2022 he was appointed as a permanent judge of the appeal division of the Court.
