Gajendra Prasad Himanshu is a veteran socialist leader from Bihar,India. Seven times he has been elected M.L.A. from Hasanpur (in years 1967,1969,1972,1977,1980,1990 &2000). [1]
He is considered to be one of the very honest and principled politicians in Bihar. Twice he had rejected the offer to become Chief Minister at the cost of breaking his party and taking support from congress. Due to his non controversial and clean image he is respected by all the leaders from his own and other parties as well. He is highly influenced by the ideologies of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia.
In year 1977,he became minister of state irrigation,Government of Bihar. He was deputy speaker of Bihar Legislative Assembly from 1980 to 1985. In 1990,he became cabinet minister of Public Health and Engineering Department (PHED),Bihar.
He was nominated as speaker of Bihar Assembly in year 2000,by Janata Dal (United) Government. However,the nomination was withdrawn last minute to retain the sanctity of the House particularly that of the chair's post and would not like to contest the election just to create a precedence. [2] [3]
Ram Vilas Paswan was an Indian politician from Bihar and the Cabinet Minister of Consumer Affairs,Food and Public Distribution in the first and second Modi ministries. Paswan was also the president of the Lok Janshakti Party,nine-times Lok Sabha member and two-time Rajya Sabha MP. He started his political career as member of Samyukta Socialist Party and was elected to the Bihar Legislative Assembly in 1969. Later,Paswan joined Lok Dal upon its formation in 1974,and became its general secretary. He opposed the emergency,and was arrested during this period. He first entered the Lok Sabha in 1977,as a Janata Party member from Hajipur constituency,and was elected again in 1980,1989,1991,1996,1998,1999,2004 and 2014.
Bhairon Singh Shekhawat was the 11th vice president of India. He served in that position from August 2002,when he was elected to a five-year term by the electoral college following the death of Krishan Kant,until he resigned on 21 July 2007,after losing the presidential election to Pratibha Patil. Bhairon Singh Shekhawat was a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He served as the Chief Minister of Rajasthan three times,from 1977 to 1980,1990 to 1992 and 1993 to 1998. He represented several constituencies in Rajasthan Vidhan Sabha from 1952 to 2002. He was also awarded Padma Bhushan in the year 2003.
Jagannath Mishra was an Indian politician who served as Chief Minister of Bihar and as Minister in the Union Cabinet. He was also Member of Parliament,Rajya Sabha between 1988 - 1990 and 1994 - 2000. His involvement was at a high level in the Indian National Congress. He was elected Chief Minister of Bihar three times. After his brother L.N. Mishra's assassination,Jagannath Mishra became Bihar's most powerful Congress leader in the late seventies and eighties. Prior to the emergence of Lalu Prasad Yadav in 1990,Jagannath Mishra was rated as the biggest mass leader in the Congress. He was affectionately called "Doctor Sahib". He was also referred to as "Maulana" Jagannath because of his clout with the Muslims that he had earned by making Urdu the second official language of the state in 1980.
Nitish Kumar is an Indian politician,who is serving as 22nd Chief Minister of Bihar since 22 February 2015,having previous held the office from 2005 to 2014 and for a short period in 2000. He is the leader of the Janata Dal (United). Previously,Kumar also served as a Union Minister as the Samata Party member.He was member of the Samata Party until 2005 and Janata Dal from 1989 to 1994. Kumar first entered politics as a member of the Janata Dal,becoming an MLA in 1985. A socialist,Kumar founded the Samata Party in 1994 along with George Fernandes. In 1996 he was elected to the Lok Sabha,and served as a Union Minister in the government of Atal Bihari Vajpayee,with his party joining the National Democratic Alliance. In 2003 his party merged into the Janata Dal (United),and Kumar became its leader. In 2005,the NDA won a majority in the Bihar Legislative Assembly,and Kumar became chief minister heading a coalition with the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Sushil Kumar Modi is an Indian politician from the Bharatiya Janata Party who is a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha from Bihar. He is a former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar as well as the Finance Minister of Bihar from 2005 to 2013 and 2017 to 2020. He is a lifelong member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. He was appointed the Chairman of the Empowered Committee of State Finance Ministers for the Implementation of Goods and Service Tax in July 2011.

Sumitra Devi was an Indian National Congress politician from Bihar. She was first elected to Bihar Legislative Assembly in 1952 from Jagdishpur. In 1963 she became the first woman cabinet minister of Bihar. She was also the first Bihari woman to become a cabinet minister in Government of India in 1977. Devi was born in Munger district on September 25,1922,and died on February 3,2001. She has served 4 times as MLA of Arrah from 1962 to 1969 and 1972 to 1980. Apart from this,she was also elected once from Piro Assembly constituency in 1957. In 1977,she participated in Indian General elections from Balia Lok Sabha constituency as an independent candidate,but she was defeated.
