Overview

Galdogob and the surrounding areas in Somalia's Mudug region are primarily served by Galdogob Airport. A significant renovation and upgrade project for the airport began in 2020, aimed at modernizing the facility to support regular commercial operations. Following the completion of these improvements, the first scheduled flight departed in 2022. [3]

The airport was officially inaugurated on November 9, 2022, in a ceremonial event presided over by Fardowsa Osman Egal, Somalia's Federal Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation. The occasion was attended by numerous high-ranking officials from the semi-autonomous Puntland administration. [4]

Located 7 km from the town centre, the airport is positioned at an elevation of 1,240 feet (378 m) above mean sea level and has a runway of 1,500 metres (4,921 ft). [5]
