Ganapathi P. Rajkumar is an Indian politician active in the state of Tamil Nadu. He served as the 5th mayor of Coimbatore from 2014 to 2016. He is set to contest in the 2024 Indian general election from the Coimbatore Lok Sabha constituency as a candidate of the DMK.
Rajkumar completed his Bachelor of arts (BA) degree in English Literature,Master of Arts (MA) degree in Mass Communication and Bachelor of Laws (LL.B). He subsequently completed his Doctorate degree (PhD) in Journalism and Mass communication. [1]
Rajkumar joined the AIADMK in 1989 and was elected as a councillor in the Coimbatore City Corporation in 2001. [2] In the 2014 mayoral elections of Coimbatore,Rajkumar contested as the AIADMK candidate and won with a share of 420,104 votes after the BJP candidate came second with a share of 128,761 votes where neither the DMK nor the INC participated. [3] Rajkumar was subsequently elected the mayor of Coimbatore, [4] and served from 2014 to 2016. [5] He previously held the position of Urban district secretary for the AIADMK. [6]
Rajkumar joined the DMK on 21 December 2020 in the presence of M. K. Stalin as he felt he was sidelined by the leaders of the AIADMK. [7] [8] He is presently the DMK's Presidium Chairman of Coimbatore district. [1]
For the 2024 Indian general election,he was selected by the DMK to contest from the Coimbatore Lok Sabha constituency. [9]
Rajkumar was born to Palanisamy and Bhuvaneswari on 17th April 1965. [10]
The thirteenth legislative assembly election,of Tamil Nadu was held on 8 May 2006. It was held for all 234 constituencies to elect the government in the state for the following five years. The votes were counted three days later on 11 May 2006 and all the results were out by the end of the day. The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam-led (DMK) front won the elections,with the DMK emerging as the single-largest party with 96 seats,and its leader,M Karunanidhi was sworn in as Chief Minister for a fifth and final term. This election marked the first time the state saw a hung assembly with no party gaining a majority of its own. As a result,DMK formed a minority government with its allies,which is the first in the state since the 1952 election. 13th Assembly was instituted due to this election.

Munisamy Thambidurai is an Indian politician who served as the Deputy Speaker of the Lok Sabha and leader of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) in the Lok Sabha,the lower house of the Indian Parliament. He had served as the Cabinet Minister of Law,Justice and Company Affairs and as the Minister of State of Surface Transport from March 1998 to April 1999. He had also served as the Deputy Speaker of the Lok Sabha from 1985 to 1989.

He also served as the Minister for Khadi and Village Industries from 2022 to 2023,Minister of Transport,Nationalised Transport,Motor Vehicles Act in the period 2021- March 2022 and also former Minister of Public Works,Highways and Electricity during 1991–1996. He joined the party DMK in Feb. 2020.
The Fourteenth Legislative Assembly Election was held on 13 April 2011 to elect members from 234 constituencies in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Results were released on 13 May 2011. Two major parties Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) faced the election as coalitions of multiple political parties:DMK front consisted of 8 parties and the AIADMK of 11 parties. Vijayakanth's Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK),which had contested the previous elections independently,allied with the AIADMK coalition. Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam boycotted the election following a disagreement with Jayalalithaa over seat-sharing. The outgoing Karunanidhi government was noted for the construction of new assembly building in Chennai,execution of various developmental projects,and implementation of programmes including free health care for the poor and issuance of a range of freebies such as color television to all. However,these were heavily overshadowed by other major issues such as incessant power cuts in households and industries,excessive sand mining,increasing prices of essential items,2G spectrum case and undue influence of Karunanidhi's extended family in various aspects of Tamil politics and business and even media.

The 2014 Indian general elections for Tamil Nadu's 39 seats in the 16th Lok Sabha were held on 24 April 2014. The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam led by its general secretary J. Jayalalithaa won a spectacular victory,taking 37 of the 39 seats. The total electors in the state of Tamil Nadu for the election was 55,114,867 and 73.74% of voters exercised their right to do so. The results of the elections were declared on 16 May 2014.

It was a splinter party of Kongunadu Munnetra Kazhagam (KMK) The party has one Member of Parliament from Namakkal and his name is A. K. P. Chinraj. and One Member of TamilNadu Legislative assembly,E.R.Easwaran. The party has four district councilors and ten union councillors.
The Fifteenth Legislative Assembly Election was held on 16 May 2016 for the 232 seats of the Legislative Assembly in the state of Tamil Nadu in India. The AIADMK under J. Jayalalithaa won the elections and became the first ruling party to be re-elected in Tamil Nadu since 1984,though with a simple majority. The DMK won half of the seats it contested but its allies performed poorly;notably,the Indian National Congress won 16% of the seats they contested,and the alliance lost due to its poor performance. The votes were counted on 19 May 2016. In the previous election in 2011,AIADMK,under the leadership of Jayalalithaa,won a thumping majority and formed the government,while DMDK chief Vijayakanth served as the Leader of Opposition until January 2016. This was the last election that J. Jayalalithaa and M. Karunanidhi contested,as they both died in 2016 and 2018 respectively.
The Makkal Needhi Maiam is an Indian regional Political party in the state of Tamil Nadu and union territory of Puducherry. The party was founded by Kamal Haasan at Madurai on 21 February 2018. He also unveiled the party flag. The flag is symbolised by six interlocked hands,meant to represent co-operation between the Southern states of India. Their election symbol is a battery torchlight.
The 2019 elections for Tamil Nadu's 39 seats in the 17th Lok Sabha were held on 18 April,in the second phase of the 2019 Indian general elections. The alliance led by the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam,won a landslide victory,taking 38 of the 39 seats.
The Sixteenth Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Election was held on 6 April 2021,to elect representatives from the 234 constituencies in the Indian State of Tamil Nadu. The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) won the election,ending the decade-long reign of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK). The DMK's leader M. K. Stalin became the eighth Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu,and the 12th Chief Minister since the 1956 reorganization. He replaced Edappadi K. Palaniswami of the AIADMK.
The 2024 Indian general election in Tamil Nadu will be held on 19 April during the first phase to elect the 39 members of the upcoming 18th Lok Sabha. The result of the election will be announced on 4 June 2024.
