Gang Starz is a Malaysian-based reality singing competition that searches for the best vocal group in Southeast Asia. The winning group receives US$100,000, a recording contract, and a chance to expand their careers on a regional scale. The second season was the last season to date. [1]

Season 1

Casting began with auditions in Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore, wherein 14 groups were selected (seven from Malaysia, five from Indonesia, and two from Singapore). Weekly eliminations were determined by 50% text votes and 50% judges' scores. The jury consisted of Vernon Kedit (talent manager), Maple Loo (choreographer), and Arab (songwriter). Although the competitors included those from other countries, the voting and broadcast was only available in Malaysia. [2] The finale, however, was also shown in Indonesia's private television station TPI. [3] The competition was won by The Lima, an all-male trio from Bandung, who received 33% of over 2.8 million votes. [4] [5]

The first season of Gang Starz was nominated for Best Entertainment Program in 2007 Asian Television Awards. [6]

Season 2

The scope of competition was expanded with the inclusion of groups from Thailand and Philippines. [1] It was confirmed that Gang Starz was expected to be shown in the Philippines in Summer 2008. Auditions were conducted. [7]

Asian Idol is a reality singing competition, which featured winners of Idol competitions from six Southeast and South Asian countries consisting of India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, and Vietnam. Pinoy Idol is a 2008 Philippine television interactive reality-based singing competition show broadcast by GMA Network. Created and developed by FremantleMedia and 19 Entertainment, the program is a franchise of Pop Idol created by British entertainment executive Simon Fuller, the show is the second incarnation of Philippine Idol.

Indonesia's Got Talent is an Indonesian talent variety show on RCTI that began July 23, 2010. It is based on the Got Talent franchise, a British TV format conceived and owned by Simon Cowell's SYCO company. Indonesia Mencari Bakat, broadcast on Trans TV, was copied from the original Got Talent format. However, Indonesia Mencari Bakat was more successful than the original format in terms of TV ratings, especially in first and third season.

The seventh season of Indonesian Idol premiered on RCTI on February 17, 2012. The show aired every Friday at 8:00 pm and Re-run aired every Sunday at 1:00 pm. Daniel Mananta returned as the host, while Anang Hermansyah and Agnes Monica returned as the judges, and musician and hits-maker Ahmad Dhani replaced Erwin Gutawa as the third judges. Fabian Dharmawan became the new Executive Producer. Vokal Plus founder & CEO Indra Aziz, and Irvan Nat, both of them are professional vocal couches, became the new in-house mentors to work with the contestants on a weekly basis. Universal Music Indonesia replaced Sony Music Entertainment Indonesia as Idol's official partner record label. Cross Mobile, Coolant, Honda and Mie Sedaap, were the official sponsors of the show. This season followed the same format as American Idol season 11 and used the new title screen & logo with a different font started from Spectacular round.

<i>The Voice Indonesia</i> Television series

The Voice Indonesia is a reality television singing competition created by John de Mol which premiered in Indonesia on 10 February 2013 on Indosiar. The format is Dutch and the original Dutch version of the programme was broadcast in the Netherlands for the first time in 2010 as The Voice of Holland. The show replaced the previous singing contest show Akademi Fantasi Indosiar. Season 2 will be aired in the RCTI. RCTI once again appointed Fabian Dharmawan to produce The Voice Indonesia after successful seasons with Indonesian Idol, X Factor Indonesia and Sasuke Ninja Warrior Indonesia. This program replaces the previous programs singing talent contest, Indonesian Idol because the broadcast is over from 2004 to 2014 and now otherwise been removed from list of programs RCTI. Indosiar dropped The Voice Indonesia after the first season due to poor ratings. In 2016, the RCTI won the rights to the show, and a second season went into production. In June 2017, RCTI announced that Indonesian Idol, another singing talent show seeking to discover the best singer through nationwide auditions, would return in 2018 and that The Voice Indonesia would not continue in RCTI. However, in June 2018, it was announced that a TV station GTV revived The Voice Indonesia for the third season.

Airtel Super Singer 2006 - Thamizhagathil Brahmaanda Kuralukkaana Thedal, the first season of the Airtel Super Singer show and Vijay TV's Super Singer series, was a reality TV singing competition in the Tamil language that aired on Star Vijay and was hosted by Chinmayi. The show first premiered on 28 April 2006, with episodes originally aired on Star Vijay on Friday and Saturday nights at 8:00 pm and Saturday and Sunday nights at 7:00 pm.

The second season of Asia's Got Talent (AGT) premiered on October 12, 2017 at 8:30 pm (UTC+8) across 27 countries in Asia. The winning act received a grand prize of US$100,000.
