Kathirvelu, a reformed robber, lives with his wife and son. He raises his son Ganga to be a brave warrior, but Ganga develops a penchant for women and alcoholism. Kathirvelu, one day, sees his son in an drunken state. Enraged, he expels him from the house. At this juncture, his past life comes back in the form of his gang. They force him to join their gang, but Kathirvelu refuses, and he is murdered in front of his wife. Ganga comes to perform the last rites of his father. His mother takes a vow from him that, until he takes revenge on all the four murderers of his father, he should not look at her face.
Ganga was produced under Indhrani Films, and directed by M. Karnan who also handled the cinematography. The story was written by Mahendran, and the dialogue by Ma. Ra, while the editing was handled by G. Kalyanasundaram. [3]
Film historian Swarnavel Eswaran Pillai compared Ganga to an earlier Karnan film Kalam Vellum (1970) for being a Western with elements of melodrama combined, along with the protagonist's goal being to avenge a murdered family member. [4] However, while Kalam Vellum focused on the protagonist avenging his sister, Ganga focuses on him avenging his father. [5]
The soundtrack was composed by Shankar–Ganesh and the lyrics were written by Kannadasan. [6]

Jaishankar was an Indian actor known for his work in Tamil cinema. He was a notable lead actor in the 1960s and 70s, who was credited onscreen with title of Makkal Kalaingnar or Makkal Thamizhan in most of the films starring him. He was also referred to as Thennakathu James Bond because of his roles in films such as Vallavan Oruvan and CID Shankar.
Sorgam (transl. Heaven) is a 1970 Indian Tamil-language film directed by T. R. Ramanna, starring Sivaji Ganesan, K. R. Vijaya, Rajasree, R. Muthuraman and K. Balaji. The film was released on 29 October 1970 and became a major success, running for over 100 days at the box office.

M. Karnan was an Indian cinematographer and director who mainly worked in Tamil cinema. Starting his career as an assistant to V. Ramamurthi, Karnan gradually rose to a full-fledged cinematographer, and made a few films based on curry western featuring Jaishankar in the lead. In an interview to Behindwoods, cinematographer Ravi K. Chandran mentioned Karnan as an inspiration and noted the way he made films. He had a very good heart and he was a pure soul. He had helped many in his times. After prolonged illness, he died on 13 December 2012.

Sakunthala, and Thengai Srinivasan. V. S. Raghavan, R. S. Manohar, C. L. Anandan, Jayakumari, B. V. Radha and M. Bhanumathi play supporting roles. The film was a remake of the 1965 French/Italian co-production Eurospy film OSS 117 Mission for a Killer. It was released on 1 May 1970, and became an average success. Sakunthala became known as "CID Sakunthala" after the film's release.
Sadhu Mirandal is a 1966 Indian Tamil-language crime thriller film directed by the duo Thirumalai–Mahalingam. It was produced by A. Bhimsingh, who also wrote the screenplay based on a real incident about a bank official being murdered for money by three people in a moving car. The film stars Nagesh and T. R. Ramachandran. Released on 14 April 1966, it became a critical and commercial success, and was later remade in Hindi by Bhimsingh as Sadhu Aur Shaitaan (1969).
Naam Moovar is a 1966 Indian Tamil-language comedy drama film, directed by Jambulingam. The film's story was written by Mahendran and dialogue by Mullai Sakthi respectively. It stars Jaishankar, Ravichandran and Nagesh playing major roles, with L. Vijayalakshmi, Rathna, V. K. Ramasamy and Pandari Bai playing pivotal roles. The film was released on 5 August 1966, and was a huge success at the box-office.
A. Karunanidhi was an Indian actor and comedian who featured mainly in Tamil-language films. He was active in the field from 1948 till 1978. Though he was a comedian, the roles he played in some of the films were so imperative to the story. A case in point is his role in the award-winning film Veerapandiya Kattabomman. He featured as "Sundaralingam", a servant in Kattabomman's court. The role was developed into a spy and he played it brilliantly. In some of the films, he will not talk much, but his body language itself will make the audience laugh, as in Missiamma. He has also appeared in women's attire in some films. The turning and twisting of his body was well appreciated even by women. In Adhey Kangal, he did the role of a Malayalee cook and spoke Malayalee Tamil, making the audience laugh to their hilt. Apart from acting, at times he gave ideas for comedy scenes in films.
