History
Originally known as the Voisins de Papineau (Papineau Neighbours), the Neighbours lost in the 1999 final and won the 2000 Eastern Ontario Junior "B" title despite being from the Province of Quebec. In 2002, the team became the Buckingham Mustangs. In 2003, the team expanded their name by becoming the Gatineau Mustangs.
In 2006, the Mustangs hosted the 2006 Coupe Dodge, the Hockey Quebec Junior "AA" championships. Coming in the Mustangs defeated Les Rebels de Trois-Pistoles 4-3, and then beat the Express de Suroît 6-5. In the first elimination round the Mustangs were defeated by the eventual finalist, Marquis de Jonquière, in an 8-5 heart breaker.
At the conclusion of the 2014-15 season, the league announced it was re-organizing to become more of a dedicated developmental league to the Central Canada Hockey League and renamed the league Central Canada Hockey League Tier 2. Initially, the league was to downsize to twelve teams (one feeder club for each Tier 1 team), however it reduced to 16 teams, eliminating 6 of the current franchises, including the Akwesasne Wolves, Morrisburg Lions, Almonte Thunder, Gananoque Islanders, Gatineau Mustangs and Shawville Pontiacs.
In May 2015, Gatineau announced they were joining the Quebec Junior Hockey League by purchasing the Lachine Maroons franchise and re-locating it to Buckingham. They were forced to change their name to the Flames, as the Vaudreuil-Dorion Mustangs were existing members of the QJHL.
The Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League is one of the three major junior ice hockey leagues that constitute the Canadian Hockey League. Officially the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League until 2023, the league includes teams in Quebec and the Maritime provinces of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island.
Buckingham is a former town located in the Outaouais region in the western portion of the province of Quebec, Canada. Since 1 January 2002, it has been part of the amalgamated city of Gatineau, which merged five former municipalities, including Masson-Angers, Buckingham, Hull, Aylmer and Gatineau, into a single entity. According to the 2016 Census, the population of the town was 16,685.

The Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL) is a Canadian Junior "A" ice hockey league operating in eastern Ontario, Canada. The league is sanctioned by Hockey Eastern Ontario and Hockey Canada and is a member of the Canadian Junior Hockey League. The winner of the CCHL playoffs competes for the Fred Page Cup — the Eastern Region championship of the Canadian Junior Hockey League — with the winners of the Quebec Junior AAA Hockey League and the Maritime Junior A Hockey League. The winner of the Fred Page Cup then moves on to compete for the national Centennial Cup.
The Kingston Frontenacs are a Canadian junior ice hockey team in the Ontario Hockey League, based in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. The Frontenacs play home games at Slush Puppie Place, which opened in 2008.
The Fred Page Cup was a championship ice hockey trophy, won by a tournament conducted by the Canadian Junior Hockey League. The award was given to the winner of a round-robin and playoff between the Bogart Cup champions of the Central Canada Hockey League, the Kent Cup champions of the Maritime Junior Hockey League, La Coupe NAPA Champions of the Quebec Junior Hockey League, and a pre-determined host team. The winner of the Fred Page Cup moves on to the Centennial Cup, the national Junior A championship. The trophy was donated by the then-called Quebec Provincial Junior Hockey League in 1994–95.
In 1970, the Junior A level was divided into two more levels, Tier I and Tier II. In 1974, the "Major Junior A" division of the OHA became the Ontario Major Junior Hockey League (OMJHL) and began to operate independently of the OHA. Finally in 1980, the OMJHL became the Ontario Hockey League.
Les Maroons de Lachine were a Canadian Junior ice hockey team from Lachine, Quebec, Canada. It started as a franchise in the Metropolitaine leagues in 1953 in both the Junior A and Junior B divisions. Later, in 1995, the Pierrefonds Lions of the Quebec Junior A league moved to Lachine and resumed use of the name.
The Ligue de Hockey Junior du Québec (LHJQ) or Quebec Junior Hockey League (QJHL) is a Hockey Québec Canadian Junior A ice hockey league and is a member of Hockey Canada and the Canadian Junior Hockey League. The winner of the QJHL playoffs competes for the Fred Page Cup against the winners of the Central Junior A Hockey League and the Maritime Hockey League and the host team, which is on a three-year cycle between the MHL, CJHL and LHJQ. The winner of the Fred Page Cup then moves on to compete for the Centennial Cup.
The Ottawa Valley Lightning are a junior C ice hockey team in the National Capital Junior Hockey League of Hockey Eastern Ontario. As of the 2018–19 season, the team is inactive.
The Minnesota Wilderness are a Tier II junior ice hockey team based in Cloquet, Minnesota, and play in the North American Hockey League (NAHL). The organization formerly fielded teams in the Canada-based Junior A Superior International Junior Hockey League for three seasons and in the American-based Tier III Minnesota Junior Hockey League.
The Morrisburg Lions are a Canadian junior ice hockey team based in Morrisburg, Ontario. They are members of the National Capital Junior Hockey Leaguecommencing with the 2015-16 season. Prior to this the Lions were members of the Eastern Ontario Junior Hockey League (EOJBHL) of Hockey Eastern Ontario and Hockey Canada
The Gananoque Islanders were a Canadian junior team based out of Gananoque, Ontario.
The Akwesasne Wolves were a Junior ice hockey team in Kawehno:ke District, Akwesasne. They played in the Eastern Ontario Junior Hockey League until the end of the 2014-15 season.
The Alexandria Glens are a Canadian junior ice hockey team based in Alexandria, Ontario, Canada. They are members of the Martin Division of the Central Canada Hockey League Tier 2 (CCHL2). They play at the Billy Gebbie Arena, also known as the Glengarry Sports Palace. In their history, the Glens have won the D. Arnold Carson Memorial Trophy twice as district Junior "B" champions. They are 12 times St-Lawrence Division Champions and 8 times Rideau/St-Lawrence Conference Champions. The Glens are one of the most successful Team in the league since the year 2000, they went to the League Finals 6 time since 2004 and 8 times in total.
The Shawville Pontiacs are a Junior "B" team based out of Shawville, Quebec. They play out of the Eastern Ontario Junior Hockey League.
The Eastern Ontario Junior Hockey League is a Junior ice hockey league operating in Eastern Ontario, Canada. The league is sanctioned by Hockey Eastern Ontario and Hockey Canada and acts as a second tier to the Central Canada Hockey League. The 16 member teams of the league compete for the Barkley Cup. Dating back to the 1960s, the league was known until 2015 as the Eastern Ontario Junior B Hockey League. The League was known from 2015 to 2020 as the Central Canada Hockey League Tier 2.

The Canadian Premier Junior Hockey League (CPJHL) was a Canadian-based junior ice hockey league based in Ontario. The CPJHL was sanctioned by the United Hockey Union, the junior hockey branch of the Amateur Athletic Union.
