The second season of the American satirical superhero television series Gen V , the third series in The Boys franchise, based on The Boys comic book story arc We Gotta Go Now by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, premiered on Amazon Prime Video on September 17, 2025 with its first three episodes.
The season stars Jaz Sinclair, Lizze Broadway, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Derek Luh, and Asa Germann returning from the previous season, with Hamish Linklater joining the cast. After the fourth season of The Boys (2024), Marie Moreau (Sinclair) and the rest of her friends return to Godolkin after months of suffering where a new dean (Linklater) trains Supes to be soldiers. On the brink of war between humans and Supes, the team discovers a program that could change everything.

Emma Meyer and Jordan Li, after their harsh confinement in the Elmira Center and Andre Anderson's death, [a] are allowed to re-enroll at Godolkin as "Guardians" thanks to Cate Dunlap, but are forced to support Vought's version of The Woods incident by corroborating Homelander's account. [b] Cipher, the new dean, pressures Cate to find Marie, who escaped Elmira. Emma investigates Cipher after recognizing him as an Elmira staff member, but to no avail. Marie goes on the run while searching for her sister. Marie confronts the Patriots and is caught on video; she then fights Dogknott and is rescued by Annie January, who unsuccessfully asks her for help in discovering what the Odessa Project, initiated by Thomas Godolkin, is. Meanwhile, Emma discovers the video and asks Jordan to find Marie, a request they reluctantly agrees to. Jordan and Emma find Marie and have a tense encounter. Cate, following them, discovers that Marie spoke with Annie, and when she tries to compel Marie with her powers, Jordan severely injures her and the trio abandons her. | ||||||

Marie returns to Godolkin and, along with Emma and Jordan, deals with what happened to Cate, who is in a coma, with Emma suggesting they kill her. Sam visits Cate and, using a nurse as an intermediary, Cate mentions Emma's name, before driving the nurse insane and causing her to kill another nurse. Polarity returns to the university as a professor to find out what happened to Andre and allies himself with Emma for this purpose. Cipher has a conversation with Marie and reveals that Andre, knowing about his illness due to his power, used it knowingly and then died. Jordan and Marie enter Cipher's class, which aims to enhance the powers of Supes. Jordan, upset with Marie, talks to her about Andre; they eventually reconcile and have sex. Emma and Polarity investigate Odessa and discover a room with Nazi artifacts and a file revealing that Odessa was a group of infants, all dead except one. Emma has a confrontation with Sam about Cate, but Emma leaves him. Emma reveals to Marie and Jordan that Marie is Odessa. Cate wakes up from her coma in a room with dead staff members just as Cipher enters. | ||||||

Marie contacts her parents' friend Pam to discover more about herself; Pam reveals that she was conceived in a laboratory by Vought and the artificer was Cipher under the alias "Dr. Gold". Marie also discovers that Pam had raised Annabeth, her long-lost sister; she stops Marie from contacting Annabeth for her safety. At Godolkin, Cate returns but is effectively powerless, acts tense and wishes to inform Vought about the reality of her assault. Cipher rejects this so she can maintain her reputation. Traumatized by his previous actions, Sam asks Cate to make him apathetic again, but she cannot. He lashes out and begins destroying his dormitory. Jordan tries to stop him, managing to calm him and the two bond. Jordan is named the university top-ranked student, thrusting them into the spotlight. Emma joins a resistance against Homelander's regime with Harper and Ally. Before their speech in Godolkin, Jordan professes their love for Marie. In the speech, Jordan reveals that Andre has died, and defends the Starlighters by revealing that they themselves attacked Cate, earning boos from the students with Marie and Cipher getting dismayed at this action. | ||||||

After Jordan is vilified by Firecracker, Cipher organizes a publicized fight at the International Vought Hotel & Spa between them and Marie with help from Malcolm Barrett. If they refuse, he will send them and Emma back to Elmira. Attempting to find information about him, Jordan and Cate break into Cipher's house and discover his father in a hyperbaric chamber. Marie gains better control of her powers, thanks to lessons with Cipher. He tells her that Odessa was a project to enhance Supes and she can be more powerful than Homelander. Marie also discovers he is human when she doesn't detect Compound V in his system. Harper tries to get Emma to control her powers without her harmful methods as she learns that Ally can manipulate her pubic hair and her brother Greg (who is in Modesty Monarch's class with her) can fly. Cipher discovers the break-in at his house and summons Cate to the fight. Marie and the group plot to get Cipher to confess with the help of Cate, Emma, Harper, Ally, and Greg. Emma manages to sneak through the pipes and give Cate a camera, who attempts to blackmail Cipher by revealing that she knows he is human. Cipher remains unfazed. To Cate and Marie's surprise, Cipher reveals his powers by controlling Jordan's body like a puppeteer and attacking Marie, who manages to control Jordan's blood and win the fight. | ||||||

In January 2023, it was announced that a writing room for a potential second season would soon come together, to be led by Michele Fazekas, who also has become sole showrunner since Tara Butters has taken a break from work. [11] That October, Amazon Prime Video renewed the series for a second season. [12]
Eric Kripke confirmed that this season will show the new order established by Homelander in the US at the end of the fourth season of The Boys , with the world "changing rapidly" under Homelander's command and his army of Supes. [13] The season will set up the story of the fifth and final season of The Boys. [14]
The second season features the return of the main cast, with the exception of Chance Perdomo, whose character Andre Anderson was not recast following Perdomo's death in March 2024 in a motorcycle accident. [15] [16] In June 2024, Hamish Linklater was announced in the role of Cipher, the new dean of Godolkin University. [4] On November 1, 2024, Keeya King, Stephen Kalyn, Julia Knope, Stacey McGunnigle, Tait Fletcher, Wyatt Dorion and Georgie Murphy were set to appear in the season. [6] In July 2025, at San Diego Comic-Con, it was revealed the cast of Ethan Slater as Thomas Godolkin in a recurring role. [5] Chace Crawford, Valorie Curry, Erin Moriarty, Nathan Mitchell, Susan Heyward and Giancarlo Esposito reprises their The Boys roles as Kevin Moskowitz / The Deep, Misty Tucker Gray / Firecracker, Annie January / Starlight, Black Noir II, Jessica "Sage" Bradley / Sister Sage and Stan Edgar respectively. In late March 2024, it was announced the production of the second season would be put on hold following Perdomo's death. The cast was due to begin table reads that afternoon before filming started in April. [17] Filming of the season officially commenced in May 2024. The season was released on September 17, 2025, with three new episodes, followed by the rest debuting on a weekly basis until the season finale on October 22, 2025. [2]
The second season has an 89% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 38 critic reviews. The website's critics consensus states, "Tastefully navigating the tragic loss of Chance Perdomo while getting a big boost from Hamish Linklater's villainous turn, Gen V's sophomore season gets high marks as a spinoff that feels essential." [23] On Metacritic, the second season received a score of 74 out of 100 based on 15 critics, indicating "generally favorable". [24]
