Gennaro Bizzarro (born 1976) is an American attorney and Republican politician from the state of Connecticut,and a former member of the Connecticut State Senate for the sixth district. He graduated from Fordham University with a Bachelor of Arts in 1997,and he attended Quinnipiac University School of Law,where he was editor in chief for the Quinnipiac Law Review. He graduated magna cum laude from Quinnipiac in 2000, [1] [2] then went into private practice and opened his own law firm. [3]
Bizzarro served as chairman of the city finance board of New Britain,Connecticut. He was appointed corporation counsel by New Britain's Mayor Tim Stewart in 2006. [1] He became president of the chamber of commerce [2] and also served as corporation counsel for Erin Stewart during her mayoralty. [3] He ran for the Connecticut House of Representatives in the 24th district in 2014 but lost to incumbent Democrat Rick Lopes. [3]
Theresa Gerratana resigned from the Connecticut State Senate to accept a position in Governor Ned Lamont's administration. Bizzarro ran in a special election to fill her unexpired term on February 26,2019 and this time defeated Lopes. [4] [5] He was sworn into office on March 4,2019 as the senator for the sixth district,which includes New Britain,Berlin,and part of Farmington. [6] Bizzarro ran for a full term in the 2020 election,but was defeated by Lopes. [7]
Bizzarro is from New Britain. He is married and has three daughters. [8] His parents immigrated to the United States from Italy. [9]

She previously served as the 72nd secretary of the state of Connecticut from 1999 to 2011. She was briefly a candidate for governor of Connecticut in 2010,before dropping out to run for Connecticut Attorney General. She was disqualified from running for the office by the Connecticut Supreme Court and announced in 2011 that she was running for the United States Senate in the 2012 election to replace the retiring Joe Lieberman. She lost the Democratic primary to U.S. Representative Chris Murphy,who went on to win the general election.

Incumbent Democratic U.S. Senator Chris Dodd suffered from dropping approval ratings in the past few years due to major controversies,leading him to announce in January 2010 that he would retire,instead of seeking a sixth term. As Dodd was a Democrat,Richard Blumenthal,incumbent State Attorney General,announced on the same day that he would run for Dodd's seat. The Connecticut Democratic Party nominated Blumenthal on May 21. Businesswoman Linda McMahon won the state party's nominating convention and the August 10 Republican primary to become the Republican candidate. This was the first open Senate seat in Connecticut since 1980 where Dodd was first elected. Blumenthal was the only non-incumbent Democrat to win a non-special election in 2010.

Rick Lopes is an American politician who currently represents the 6th District in the Connecticut State Senate since 2021. Lopes formerly represented the 24th District of the Connecticut House of Representatives Member-elect of the Connecticut State Senate. Lopes ran for the 6th District seat in the Connecticut State Senate during the 2020 election. Lopes won the election against Republican Incumbent Gennaro Bizzarro. Lopes began his two-year term in the Connecticut State Senate on January 3,2021 and will seek re-election in 2022.
Donna Veach is an American politician currently serving as a state representative from the 30th District in the Connecticut House of Representatives. A member of the Republican Party,Veach was elected to the 30th district seat in 2020 after defeating Democratic challenger JoAnn Angelico-Stetson. Prior,Veach defeated challenger Jim Townsley for the Republican nomination for the seat. Veach also serves as a councilwoman on the Berlin town council.
