Gerald Dixon (born June 20, 1969) is an American former professional football player who was a linebacker in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the South Carolina Gamecocks and spent 10 seasons in the National Football League (NFL) from 1992 to 2001.
Dixon initially attended Garden City (Kansas) Community College, where he was named the conference player of the year in 1989, before transferring to South Carolina the following season.
Although originally a defensive lineman, after transferring to South Carolina, Dixon transitioned to the linebacker position. In his two-year career with the Gamecocks, he made 70 tackles in each season. Additionally, he was named the team's defensive player of the year in 1990, after finishing the season with three sacks and four tackles for loss.
Dixon played for the Cleveland Browns, the Cincinnati Bengals, the San Diego Chargers, and the Oakland Raiders. Dixon was selected by the Browns in the 1992 NFL draft. [1] In 1999, Gerald's father and brother were both killed in the same week. Gerald retired in 2001, to return home and help raise his nephews. He is currently a Physical Education teacher and Little League Coach at Sylvia Circle Elementary School, and he also is the linebackers coach at his old high school Rock Hill High School in Rock Hill, SC.
John Antonio Abraham is an American former professional football player who was a defensive end and linebacker for 15 seasons in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the South Carolina Gamecocks, and was selected by the New York Jets in the first round of the 2000 NFL draft. Abraham also played for the Atlanta Falcons and Arizona Cardinals. A seven time All-Pro and five time selection for the Pro Bowl, Abraham is often regarded as one of the greatest defensive ends of the 2000s, and universally cited as one of the greatest defensive linemen in the history of the New York Jets.
Sheldon Dion Brown is an American former professional football player who was a cornerback in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the South Carolina Gamecocks. Brown was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the second round of the 2002 NFL draft and also played for the Cleveland Browns.
Bryan Thomas Sr is an American former professional football player who was a linebacker and defensive end in the National Football League (NFL). He was selected by the New York Jets 22nd overall in the 2002 NFL draft and spent his entire 11-year career with the team. He played college football at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Steven Eric Tovar is an American former football player and coach. He played as a linebacker in the National Football League (NFL) for eight seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals, the San Diego Chargers and the Carolina Panthers. He played college football for the Ohio State Buckeyes and was selected by the Bengals in the third round of the 1993 NFL draft.
Kalimba Edwards is an American former professional football player who was a defensive end in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the South Carolina Gamecocks and was selected by the Detroit Lions in the second round of the 2002 NFL draft.
Jarvis Jaray Moss is an American former professional football player who was a defensive end in the National Football League (NFL) for five seasons. He played college football for the University of Florida, received All-American honors, and was a member of a BCS National Championship team in 2006. Moss was selected by the Denver Broncos in the first round of the 2007 NFL draft, and played professionally for the Broncos and Oakland Raiders.
Eric Norwood is a former American football defensive end. He was most recently a member of the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He was a member of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the CFL from 2013 to 2015. He formerly played for the University of South Carolina. During his collegiate career, he set school career records in tackles for loss (54.5) and quarterback sacks (29). With numerous conference and national honors, Norwood is one of the most decorated defensive players in SEC history and has drawn comparisons to James Harrison. Norwood was considered a top linebacker prospect for the 2010 NFL draft; he was selected in the fourth round, 124 overall by the Carolina Panthers.
Tommy Thigpen is an American college football coach and former player. He is currently the co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at University of North Carolina, a position he assumed in January 2018. Prior to that, he spent 14 years as an assistant coach in the collegiate ranks, including a stint at Auburn University where he was part of the 2010 National Championship team. Thigpen played as a linebacker at the University of North Carolina and thereafter was drafted by the New York Giants of the National Football League (NFL). He also played for the Barcelona Dragons of the World League of American Football (WLAF).
Jasper Jerrell Brinkley is an American former professional football player who was a linebacker in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the University of South Carolina. He was selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the fifth round of 2009 NFL draft. He also played for the Arizona Cardinals and New York Giants.
Jadeveon Davarus Clowney is an American professional football linebacker for the Carolina Panthers of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the South Carolina Gamecocks, where he won the Ted Hendricks Award, and was selected first overall by the Houston Texans in the 2014 NFL draft. Clowney was a member of the Texans for five seasons, earning three consecutive Pro Bowl selections during his final years with the team. Following his departure from Houston, he played with the Seattle Seahawks, Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns, and Baltimore Ravens.
Gregory S. Mark is an American former football player who was a defensive end and linebacker in the National Football League (NFL). He was selected by the New York Giants in the third round of the 1990 NFL draft. He played college football at Miami. Mark played in the NFL for the Philadelphia Eagles and Miami Dolphins. Mark was a defensive line coach for the Hurricanes from 1996 to 2005.
Christopher DeVonte Holloman is a former American football linebacker in the National Football League (NFL) for the Dallas Cowboys. He attended the University of South Carolina (2009–2012). He was selected in the 6th round of the 2013 NFL draft by the Cowboys. He played college football at the University of South Carolina.
Jeremy Cash is an American former professional football player who was a linebacker in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Duke Blue Devils, and was signed by the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent in 2016.
