Get Acquainted is a CD compilation of rare material of horror punk, alternative rock, garage rock, stoner rock and heavy metal bands. [1] It was released in 2008 with the German book Metall macht Musik, illustrated by Tim Eckhorst and published by TheNextArt). [2]

Contents

Among others, the CD features previously unreleased songs by ex-Misfits-singer Michale Graves and his band Gotham Road. Those songs were made available on a factory pressed CD for the first time.

The album also contains three songs by American horror punk group Blitzkid.

Misfits (band) American horror punk band

The Misfits are an American punk rock band often recognized as the progenitors of the horror punk subgenre, blending punk and other musical influences with horror film themes and imagery. The group was founded in 1977 in Lodi, New Jersey, by vocalist, songwriter and keyboardist Glenn Danzig, and drummer Manny Martínez. Jerry Only joined on bass guitar shortly after. Over the next six years, membership would change frequently with Danzig and Only being the two consistent members. During this time period, they released several EPs and singles, and with Only's brother Doyle as guitarist, the albums Walk Among Us (1982) and Earth A.D./Wolfs Blood (1983), both considered touchstones of the early-1980s hardcore punk movement. The band has gone through many lineup changes over the years, with bassist Jerry Only being the only constant member in the group.

Horror punk Music genre

Horror punk is a music genre that mixes proto-gothic and punk rock sounds with morbid and violent imagery and lyrics which are often influenced by horror films and science fiction B-movies. The genre is similar to and sometimes overlaps with death rock, although death rock leans more towards an atmospheric gothic rock sound while horror punk leans towards a 1950s-influenced doo-wop and rockabilly sound. Horror punk music is typically more aggressive and melodic than death rock. Many acts employ a tongue-in-cheek, humorous or satirical approach to the genre.

Blitzkid

Blitzkid is an American horror punk band from Bluefield, West Virginia. One of the leading exponents of the horror punk scene, the band was led by singer/guitarist TB Monstrosity and bassist/singer Argyle Goolsby. Active from 1997 until 2012, Blitzkid released five studio albums, appeared on numerous compilations, and toured both nationally and internationally.

Mister Monster were an American, based horror punk band, started in 1998 by singer Jason "J-Sin" Trioxin, notable for their use of Doo Wop harmonies within Horror Punk, a style the band called Boo Wop. Mister Monster’s influences included classic Doo Wop, The Stray Cats, The Damned, the Misfits, and the Ramones.

Stellar Corpses is a psychobilly horror punk band formed in Santa Cruz, California in 2005 by singer and guitarist, Dusty Grave and upright bassist Dan Lamothe. Their sound and style combine elements of punk, rockabilly, gothic rock, metal and rock and roll. Since their formation, Stellar Corpses have continued to tour both in the US as well as internationally.
