Gheorghe Lixandru (born 26 March 1953) is a Romanian bobsledder. He competed at the 1976, 1980 and the 1984 Winter Olympics. [1] Lixandru was the flag bearer for Romania in the opening ceremony of the 1980 Winter Olympics. [2]

Mircea Frăţică is a Romanian retired middleweight judoka who won the European title in 1982. Frăţică also won bronze medals at the 1980 European Championships, 1983 World Championships and 1984 Olympics. Romania first participated at the Olympic Games in 1900, with a single participant. The National Olympic Committee for Romania is the Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee, and was created and recognized in 1914. The nation first sent a team to compete at the Games in 1924, and has only missed two editions each of the Summer Olympic Games and Winter Olympic Games since then. Notably, Romania was the lone Eastern Bloc nation to participate at the 1984 Summer Olympics, which the other nations boycotted. That was also Romania's most successful Olympic Games: they won 20 gold medals and 53 medals in total.

Berceanu spent most of his career at Steaua București, and later worked there as a coach.

The men's ISSF 25 meter rapid fire pistol was a shooting sports event held as part of the shooting at the 1956 Summer Olympics programme. It was the 10th appearance of the event. The competition was held on 4 and 5 December 1956 at the shooting ranges in Melbourne. 35 shooters from 22 nations competed. Nations had been limited to two shooters each since 1952. The event was won by Ștefan Petrescu of Romania, the nation's first victory in the event. His countryman Gheorghe Lichiardopol repeated as bronze medalist, becoming the third man to win multiple rapid fire pistol medals. Between the two Romanians was Yevgeny Cherkasov with silver, earning the Soviet Union's first medal in the event.

He competed for West Germany in the men's featherweight event at the 1976 Summer Olympics, defeating Serge Thomas of France before losing to Gheorghe Ciochina of Romania. He was also most likely to become a West German representative at the 1980 Summer Olympics, but the West German government participation in the Olympics boycott caused Weller and the rest of the Olympic squad to miss the event. Weller died on 22 August 2023, at the age of 69 after suffering from dementia.
