Toma Simionov is a retired Romanian sprint canoer, who competed in doubles together with his elder brother Gheorghe and later with Ivan Patzaichin. He won three Olympic medals with two gold and one silver (1984). He also won nine medals at the ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships with three golds, four silvers, and two bronzes.
Piotr Markiewicz is a Polish sprint canoeist who competed from the early 1990s to the early 2000s (decade). At the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, he won the bronze medal in the K-1 500 m event.
Daniel Morelon is a retired French racing cyclist who was active between 1963 and 1980. He is a triple Olympic champion, eight times world champion, and a knight of the Legion d'Honneur. Morelon was a police officer before becoming a cycling coach.
Jan Johansen is a retired Norwegian canoeist. He competed in the four-man 1000 m sprint at the 1968 and 1972 Olympics and won a gold and a bronze medal, respectively. Between 1966 and 1971 Søby collected two gold and three silver medals in two-man and four-man 10,000 m events at the world and European championships.
Giuseppe Beghetto is a retired Italian cyclist who was active between 1958 and 1971 on the road and track. On the track, he won three gold and three silver medals in the sprint at the world championships of 1961–1968. He also won a gold medal in the tandem event at the 1960 Summer Olympics, together with his sprint rival Sergio Bianchetto, and set world records in the 200 m (11.40) and in 1 km (1:08.40). On the road, he won two stages of Giro di Sardegna in 1969 and took part in the 1970 Tour de France.
Rolf Peterson is a retired Swedish sprint canoeist. He competed in the K-1 1000 m event at the 1964, 1968 and 1972 Olympics and won a gold medal in 1964 and a silver in 1972, finishing fifth in 1968. At the world championships Peterson won two gold and one silver medals in K-2 events in 1970–1971, all with Lars Andersson. He was awarded the Svenska Dagbladet Gold Medal in 1964 and served as the Swedish Olympic flag bearer in 1968.

Haralambie Ivanov was a Romanian sprint canoeist who competed in the mid to late 1960s. Competing in two Summer Olympics, he won a silver in the K-4 1000 m event at Mexico City in 1968. Ivanov also won six medals at the ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships with four golds, a silver, and a bronze. He died in Crișan, Tulcea in 2004.
Sergio Ottolina was an Italian sprinter. He won a bronze medal in the 200 m at the 1962 European Athletics Championships and a silver medal in the sprint medley relay at the 1966 European Indoor Games.
Edward James Dawkins is a New Zealand track cyclist. At the 2010 Commonwealth Games he won the silver medal in the men's sprint and the bronze medal in the men's 1 kilometre time trial. At the 2014 Commonwealth Games, he won the bronze medal in the men's sprint, and was part of the New Zealand time that won the gold medal in the team sprint, with Ethan Mitchell and Sam Webster. The team sprint team set two Commonwealth Games records along the way. At the 2016 Rio Olympics, he won alongside Sam Webster and Ethan Mitchell a silver medal in the team sprint, but did not go beyond the round 1 repechage in the individual sprint.
Walter Gorini is a retired Italian track cyclist who was active between 1966 and 1967. He won one bronze and one gold medals in the tandem at the world championships of 1966 and 1968, respectively ; he finished fourth in this event at the 1968 Summer Olympics.
The men's sprint was a cycling event held at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City, Mexico, held on 18 to 19 October 1968. There were 47 participants from 28 nations. Each nation was limited to two cyclists. The event was won by Daniel Morelon of France, his second consecutive medal and first gold; it was also France's world-leading sixth victory in the men's sprint. His countryman Pierre Trentin, who had lost the bronze medal match to Morelon four years earlier, this year won it against Omar Pkhakadze of the Soviet Union. Between the French cyclists was silver medalist Giordano Turrini of Italy, extending that nation's streak of top-two results in the event to six Games.
