Girindra Mallik (born 1 May 1939) is a former member of the Assam Legislative Assembly and represented the Dholai on two separate occasions. He was first elected to the legislative assembly in 1996 defeating Parimal Suklabaidya but was defeated in the 2001 Assam Legislative election by Parimal Suklaibaidya. He was re-elected from the same constituency for a second term in 2011 defeating Parimal Suklabaidya.
He was inducted into the council of ministers of Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi as the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Border Areas, Jails, and Mines and Minerals in January 2015. [1] He contested for re-election from his seat in 2016 but was defeated by Parimal Suklabaidya. [2]
Tarun Gogoi was an Indian politician and lawyer who served as the 13th Chief Minister of Assam from 2001 to 2016. He was the longest serving Chief Minister of Assam. He was a member of the Indian National Congress. During his tenure as the chief minister, he is credited with ending militant insurgency and mitigating violence in addition to improving the state's fiscal condition.
Dip Gogoi is an Indian politician from Assam who was a Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha from Kaliabor Lok Sabha constituency from 2002 to 2014. He was also the member of the Assam Legislative Assembly from Kaliabor constituency from 2001 to 2001 and is a member of the Indian National Congress. He is the brother of former Chief Minister of Assam, Tarun Gogoi.
Sumitra Doley Patir is an Indian politician from Assam who served as a member of the Assam Legislative Assembly representing the Dhemaji Assembly constituency from 2006 until 2016. She also served as a Minister of State in the third cabinet of chief minister Tarun Gogoi from 26 January 2015 until 24 May 2016 holding portfolios of urban development and housing, tourism and tribal welfare.
