J-pop, natively also known simply as pops, is the name for a form of popular music that entered the musical mainstream of Japan in the 1990s. Modern J-pop has its roots in traditional music of Japan, and significantly in 1960s pop and rock music. J-pop replaced kayōkyoku in the Japanese music scene.
Ami Suzuki is a Japanese recording artist, DJ, and actress from Zama, Kanagawa, Japan. Having been discovered at the talent TV show Asayan, she was one of the most popular female teen idols in the late 1990s. However, in 2000, Suzuki faced legal problems with her management company resulting in a controversial blacklisting from the entertainment industry. Suzuki attempted to resurrect her career under her own steam with two indie singles before signing to Avex Trax in 2005. She released "Delightful", a dance song that reached No. 3 on the Japanese Oricon charts with a style similar to electronic club music, significantly different from her pop idol days. Since her appearance in the 2006 film Rainbow Song, Suzuki has gradually made a name for herself in the acting field, starring in various movies, television series, and musicals.
AAA are a 5-member Japanese pop group signed to the label Avex Trax which debuted in September of 2005. The name has the meaning of "challenging everything" or "against all odds", and the group is marketed by their label as a "super performance unit".
The discography of Japanese recording artist Gackt consists of eight studio albums, eight compilation albums, one extended play, and forty-eight singles. In 1999 Gackt signed a recording contract with Nippon Crown. His breakthrough success was the EP Mizérable, which peaked at number 2 on the Oricon albums chart. As a solo artist, since 2009 are reported sales of over 10 million, and holds the male soloist record for most top ten consecutive chart singles as of July 18, 2011.
Lee Ayumi, professionally known as Ayumi in South Korea and Yumi Itō in Japan, is a Japanese-born South Korean singer, actress and entertainer based in Japan and South Korea. She debuted under the stage name Ahyoomee in 2001, as the leader and lead vocalist of South Korean girl group Sugar, a position she served in until the group's disbandment in 2006. Following the disbandment, Lee embarked on a solo career in South Korea under SM, releasing two digital singles. In 2008, she returned to Japan and began an acting career under the Japanese stage name Yumi Itō. In 2009, she debuted as a singer in Japan, under Avex's Rhythm Zone, taking the stage name Iconiq, and released a studio album, an EP, and seven digital singles.
"Returner " is a single released by Gackt, on June 20, 2007, by Nippon Crown. It is Gackt's first single to top the Oricon Singles Chart, first by record label since Kaze's "22-Sai no Wakare" released in 1975, and the theme song for NHK drama Fūrin Kazan.
Best Fiction is the third greatest hits album by Japanese recording artist Namie Amuro, and the final greatest hits release from Avex Trax, her record company since 1995. The release follows her two previous greatest hits albums, 181920 (1998) and Love Enhanced Single Collection (2002). The compilation was released as a stand-alone CD and a deluxe CD/DVD package including music videos. The album includes two new tracks; "Sexy Girl" and "Do Me More", and spawned an extended play 60s 70s 80s.
Watarirouka Hashiritai was a Japanese female idol group, and a subgroup of Japanese female idol group AKB48. Under Pony Canyon, the group debuted in January 2009 with the double A-side single "Hatsukoi Dash/Aoi Mirai."
"Beautiful" is Mai Kuraki's thirty-second single, released on June 10, 2009. The single comes in two formats: limited CD+DVD edition and regular edition. It sold 29,446 copies in its first week and peaked at #2.
"Phantom Minds" is the 21st single by Japanese singer and voice actress Nana Mizuki, released on January 13, 2010, by King Records. The single debuted at number one on Oricon weekly charts, becoming the first voice actress single to top the charts. It is also her current highest selling single.
"Gūzen no Kakuritsu" is the debut single by the band Girl Next Door and it was released on September 3, 2008. It is the theme song for the Japanese show CDTV while the B-side Breath was used as the ending theme for Uwasa no Tokyo Magazine.
Change Myself is Japanese pop musician Iconiq's debut album, released on March 10, 2010. The album was initially planned for a February 24 release, which was postponed for two weeks.
"I'm Lovin' You" is Japanese/Korean musician Iconiq's debut Japanese solo single, a duet with Exile vocalist Atsushi. It was released on January 27, 2010 as a digital download to cellphones, as well as a special release CD in rental stores, featuring shortened versions of "I'm Lovin' You" and Iconiq's second digital single, "Change Myself."
"Kiss Kiss Kiss" is Japanese singer and actress Ami Suzuki's twenty-ninth single and it was released on October 28, 2009. At the time of the single release, Ami's official site, as well as other music sites considered this work to be a double A-side single along with "Aishiteru...", but the work itself, as well as Avex official site, mention only "Kiss Kiss Kiss" to be the A-side, and "Aishiteru..." to be the coupling track.
"Jiyū e no Shingeki" is the second single by Japanese band Linked Horizon. It was released on July 10, 2013 through Pony Canyon. The single has been certified Platinum by the RIAJ for sales in the band's home country of Japan, with over 250,000 copies sold, peaking at number two on the Oricon chart. Its tracks "Guren no Yumiya" and "Jiyū no Tsubasa" are used as the opening themes of the 2013 anime adaptation of Attack on Titan. "Guren no Yumiya" was a hit, peaking at number one on the Billboard Japan Hot 100 and fourth place on the Billboard World Digital Song Sales, and received a digital download song certification of Double Platinum from the RIAJ for sales of 500,000.
Happiness is a Japanese pop girl group formed and managed by LDH since 2008 and signed to the record label Rhythm Zone. They are a dance and vocal unit of collective girl group E-girls alongside Dream and Flower. The group consists of two vocalists and three performers.
Girls is the debut Japanese extended play by Exo-CBX, the first official sub-unit of the South Korean-Chinese boy group Exo. It was released on May 24, 2017 by Avex Trax and distributed by Avex Music Creative. The EP features seven tracks in total including the Japanese version of their debut Korean single Hey Mama! and a bonus track that will be included only in the first edition of the album.
