Girl On Fire was a Seattle-based rock band formed in 2007. The band consisted of vocalist Austin Held, guitarists Nick McMahan and Nicholas Wiggins, bassist Josh Mouser and drummer Harry MacDonald. [1] Girl On Fire began receiving national attention with the release of their debut record Not Broken on Century Media Records. Their album debuted at No. 25 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart. [2] They toured with such acts as Buckcherry, Halestorm, Pop Evil, and Filter. [3]

History

2007–2010: Early years

Formed in the summer of 2007, Girl On Fire was founded by members Austin Held, guitarist Nick McMahan, guitarist Brent McGaughey, bassist Josh Mouser, and drummer Harry MacDonald. That same year, the band recorded a series of demos and began playing heavily around the Seattle area. The band first saw minor exposure upon winning the Ernie Ball Battle of the bands in 2008 and in 2009, [1] after which Brent McGaughey chose to leave the band.

2010–2012: Hollywood Waste and Revenge EP

In late 2010, Girl On Fire signed a deal with Hollywood Waste Records (an imprint of Century Media Records). [4] The band spent the early part of 2011 writing and recording the Revenge EP with Wil Francis (Aiden, William Control). [5] 2011–12 saw the band on national tours with Get Scared, Rev Theory and Burn Halo, in support of their Revenge EP. [1]

2013–2015: Century Media and Not Broken

In 2012, Girl On Fire were up-signed to Century Media Records and began writing their first full-length record. The band spent the last part of 2012 at NRG Studios recording Not Broken with producer Jay Baumgardner (Papa Roach, Evanescence). [6] The record was released on September 3, 2013, and debuted at No. 25 on Billboard Heatseekers charts. [2] Their first single, "The Takedown", spent four weeks in the top 50 and peaked at No. 44. [3] "The Takedown" has been featured on ESPN and was included on Apple Music's playlist of top bands influenced by Linkin Park. [7] [8] The song has over five million plays on Spotify. [9]

The band spent the majority of 2013 on the road with the likes of: Pop Evil, Filter, Otherwise and Nothing More, as well as a three-month stint with Buckcherry. They also performed at several national rock festivals, including Aftershock, Rockville, and Fort Rock. [1]

2014 saw the band headlining shows at the famous Whisky a Go Go and The Viper Room on Hollywood's Sunset Strip. [10] On September 23, 2014, the band released a music video for their second single, "Reminds Me of You". [11] In November, the band embarked upon their first national headlining tour with Los Angeles band Raw Fabrics. [12]

The band continued to tour nationally in 2015. Notable stints included, a sold out show at the Hard Rock Seattle, [13] a date on the famous SXSW festival,[ citation needed ] and a headlining spot at Seattle Hempfest 2015. [14] The band's final show was September 5 at the Showare center, alongside Seattle band Candlebox [15]

Several members are currently in the pop rock band Pretty Awkward (Sony Music). [16]

Over the course of their 40-year career, the Offspring has released ten studio albums and have also experienced a number of lineup changes, most notably with their drummer. Their longest-serving drummer was Ron Welty, who replaced original drummer James Lilja in 1987 and stayed with the Offspring for 16 years. Welty was replaced by Adam "Atom" Willard in 2003, who was replaced four years later by Pete Parada, who remained as the drummer for the Offspring until he was fired from the band in 2021 after his doctor recommended against the COVID-19 vaccine. He was officially replaced two years later by Pertzborn. Gregory "Greg K." Kriesel (one of the Offspring's co-founders) was their bassist until 2018, when he was fired from the band due to business disputes, thus leaving Holland as the sole remaining original member. Kriesel was replaced by Todd Morse of H2O, who had been the Offspring's touring guitarist since 2009.

Sindre Langhelle, known professionally as Rocky Kramer, is a Norwegian-American guitarist, singer, songwriter, composer and bandleader from Trondheim who is now based in Los Angeles. In 2018, Kramer became more widely known when he headlined the Seattle Hempfest. The next year, he released the single "Rock Star" from his debut album Firestorm, together with a well-received animation over live-action music video, exceeding a million views on Facebook. "Rock Star" reached number 1 on the Global DRT Chart and was nominated for a Hollywood Music in Media Award. Following release of Firestorm, Kramer performed at the 2019 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in Sturgis, South Dakota, before joining Buckcherry's tour throughout the United Kingdom. Kramer has been described as "[o]ne of the strongest and most poignant guitarists since [Jimi] Hendrix." In 2021, it was announced that Kramer had been cast to play the character "Lars Olsen" in the Aaron Lee Lopez directed feature film Rockin' in Time, due in theaters in 2023. Kramer plays and endorses Fender Stratocaster guitars.
