Glamour and Damage is the debut solo album by British singer-songwriter Kitty Brucknell. It was released by Whisky Records via the direct fan-to-artist platform, Pledge Music on 1 November 2014. [1]
Brucknell began recording her debut album very soon after her departure from the X Factor, although it would be three years until the works would be released. Brucknell embarked on a small tour consisting of schools and small venues to promote the album pre release. She performed the forthcoming album track "The Damage Is Done". Although it was hinted that the track "Red Shoes" was part of the album, it was not on the final cut. [2]
For the album's writing and production Brucknell teamed up with The Elements (a song writing and production team consisting of Dai Smith and Allyson Summerhayes) and Jeff Calvert of Typically Tropical fame. Tracks such as "Glitter In The Sky", "Yearning", "Hitch Another Ride" and "Remix" were written to demonstrate the less serious and more fun side to Brucknell's persona. While "Naked Truth" and "The Damage Is Done" were coloured by her true life events during her time on The X Factor , such as former friends selling stories about her to the press. The album was finished in 2014 and Brucknell made it available exclusive to Pledge Music, a direct fan-to-artist platform. The funds garnered from the Pledge Music campaign helped Brucknell fund the album's lead single, "Glitter In The Sky" which was released on 19 October 2014 and received generally positive reviews. In November 2014, Brucknell announced that she would be attempting to represent Switzerland in the Eurovision Song Contest with the track "Yearning" which appears on the album. There has been much speculation to why she did not represent the United Kingdom, but she states that she felt the BBC would not allow her to enter due to being a contestant on the X Factor. [4] She also felt Switzerland was open to helping new artists across the globe. [5] Brucknell announced that she was not successful in the Swiss song election process and her track "Yearning" had not made it to the next round. As of December 2014, she is seeking alternative countries to represent and has been short listed for the Moldovan national final with two tracks from the Glamour and Damage album; "Yearning" and "Remix".
Glamour and Damage was released digitally on 1 November 2014 and CDs were pressed and distributed in the following month.

The Glamour and Damage album's art was directed by Anthony Mark Walton, who has designed for the likes of Siobhan Fahey, Shakespears Sister, The Nolans, Anne Nolan, Maria Nayler and Honey Bane.
In 2013, Walton began preparing the Glamour and Damage images by collating various themes and backdrops. These images were revealed on Brucknell's official facebook profile the same year and a mock cover was revealed. It was decided that Walton's "Damaged Wallpaper" images would be used for the album.
The art is in keeping with the album theme and underwent several changes before the final cover was revealed on Brucknell's Pledge Music campaign page.
"The cover features a very glamorous Kitty backed by a damaged and grungy wallpaper, bringing together the Glamour and Damage. We really wanted to create an iconic image" says Walton. [6]

"Loverboy" is a song by American singer and songwriter Mariah Carey. It was released on June 19, 2001, by Virgin Records America as the lead single from her eighth studio album Glitter, the soundtrack to the 2001 film of the same name. Written and produced by Carey, Larry Blackmon, Thomas Jenkins and Clark Kent, "Loverboy" is built around a sample from "Candy" by the funk band Cameo, who are also featured on the track. Lyrically, the song finds Carey fantasizing about her loverboy, a man that will fulfill her physical and sexual desires. The recording was accompanied by an official remix, titled "Loverboy Remix", featuring guest artists Ludacris, Da Brat, Shawnna and Twenty II.
Maria Lawson is an English singer. She recorded several singles with Ti.Pi.Cal. Lawson finished in eighth place in the second UK series of television talent show The X Factor in 2005. She released her debut self-titled album in 2006. Her self-help/autobiography entitled Life Starts Now was released in November 2008. Lawson appeared in the female lead role in the West End production of Thriller – Live from 14 April 2009 to March 2010. She released her second studio album, Emotional Rollercoaster in 2014. Lawson lives in London with her husband Lawrence and their two children.
Hadise Açıkgöz is a Belgian-Turkish singer, songwriter, dancer and television personality. Born and raised in Belgium, her family is of Lezgin-Kumyk origin who settled in Sivas, Turkey. In 2003, she participated in the Belgian singing competition show Idool 2003, but rose to fame after releasing her debut album Sweat in 2005. The album spawned 5 singles and earned Hadise both a TMF Award (Belgium) and Golden Butterfly Award (Turkey). Hadise established and maintained a successful career in both Belgium and Turkey with the release of her self-titled album Hadise (2008). The album, which includes English and Turkish songs, features the single "Deli Oğlan" that became a number-one hit in Turkey.
Carolynne Willey is a British singer-songwriter, actress and former model from Leeds, England. She is a founding member of the Carolynne Good Band, based in Leeds and London. She is best known for finishing in third place on the second series of the BBC singing competition Fame Academy in 2003. In 2011, Willey was a contestant on The X Factor and made it to the judges' houses' stage of the competition. She returned to the show the following series in 2012 and made it to the live shows, but was eliminated after the first live show following a sing-off against Rylan Clark.
Tamta Goduadze, known mononymously as Tamta, is a Georgian-born Greek singer. She first achieved popularity in Greece in 2004 for her participation in Super Idol Greece, in which she placed second. She went on to release several charting albums and singles in Greece and Cyprus, also becoming a mentor on X Factor Georgia in 2014, and The X Factor Greece in 2016.
Siranush Harutyunyan, known professionally as Sirusho, is an Armenian singer and songwriter. She received her first award when she was nine years old for her song "Lusabats". Sirusho's first studio album, Sirusho, was released in 2000 followed by the second album Sheram in 2005. In the same year, she was awarded the Future of Armenian Music, Best Album and Best Female Performer awards in the first Armenian National Music Awards.
Guilty is the ninth studio album by Japanese recording artist Ayumi Hamasaki. It was released on January 1, 2008 by Avex Trax. Guilty marks Hamasaki's ninth consecutive album to be fully produced by Japanese producer and manager Max Matsuura, while she contributes to the album as the lead vocalist, background vocalist, and songwriter to all songs. She represented Spain in the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 with the song "Dancing In The Rain", which entered the Spanish Singles Chart at number 5. In the Eurovision Song Contest, she scored 74 points for Spain, finishing in 10th place.

As a part of the R&B/hip hop group N-Dubz with her cousin Dappy and friend Fazer, they gained two platinum-certified albums, two gold-certified albums, five MOBO awards, a Brit Award nomination, thirteen top 40 singles, six silver-certified singles, and three Urban Music Awards.
Ivi Adamou is a Greek Cypriot singer. She was born and raised in Agia Napa, Cyprus and currently resides in Alexandroupoli, Greece. Adamou rose to recognition in Greece and Cyprus following her participation in the second season of the Greek version of The X Factor, where she was under the mentorship of Giorgos Theofanous. Right after her elimination from the X Factor, Adamou secured a recording contract with Sony Music Greece. She gained further recognition from her participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012, where she represented Cyprus with the song "La La Love".
Anis Basim Moujahid, better known as Basim, is a Danish pop singer and songwriter. He is of Moroccan origin. He has released two albums, Alt det jeg ville have sagt in 2008 and Befri dig selv in 2009. Basim represented Denmark in the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 on home ground in Copenhagen, Denmark with the song "Cliche Love Song". The following year he was the Danish spokesperson at Eurovision.
The X Factor is a British television music competition to find new singing talent. The eighth series aired on ITV on 20 August 2011 and ended on 11 December 2011. Dermot O'Leary hosted the main show on ITV, while Caroline Flack and series 6 runner-up Olly Murs co-presented the spin-off show The Xtra Factor on ITV2. Louis Walsh returned to the judging panel and was joined by Gary Barlow, Kelly Rowland and Tulisa. Barlow, Rowland, Tulisa joined the panel replacing judges, Simon Cowell, Dannii Minogue and Cheryl Cole. Series 5 winner Alexandra Burke served as a guest judge for week 4 of the live shows due to Rowland having a throat infection.

The song is a cover originally sung by London-based singer Caiyo from his 2009 album Circles and Squares.
