Glamour of the Kill (sometimes abbreviated as GOTK) were an English post-hardcore band from York. They had a Kerrang! video of the week with the track "Feeling Alive".
"Glamour of the Kill" were formed in January 2007. They take their name from a line in the title track of He Is Legend's 2004 album, I Am Hollywood . The band's mainstream popularity was assisted by a 10/10 Metal Hammer review for their debut demo EP, Through the Dark They March . This led to tours with Bullet for My Valentine, Darkest Hour and Avenged Sevenfold.
They have cited major influences as Iron Maiden, Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, Megadeth, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, The Misfits, Black Flag, The Ramones, Nirvana, Sepultura, As I Lay Dying, Killswitch Engage, and Korn.
In 2008, the band released their first licensed EP, Glamour of the Kill , with independent label Siege of Amida Records. This EP contained a re-recorded version of one of the previous EP's tracks, "Rise From Your Grave". Glamour of the Kill was given positive ratings from critics throughout the UK.
On 15 June, the band made an appearance at Download Festival alongside Coheed & Cambria, In Flames, Within Temptation and others. [1]
2009 saw the band support the likes of Escape The Fate and Wednesday 13 as well as making as this, GOTK played at the UK leg of Sonisphere, a European festival Headlined by Metallica and Linkin Park. This later led to the band touring with DragonForce in the UK in the winter of 2009. The track "A Hope In Hell" was also featured on the game Dirt 2 .
2010 has already seen the band playing Eurosonic Festival, a massive 38 date headline UK tour with support from Yashin titled "In For The Kill". The band have also appeared at Powerfest, Amsterdam, they also played the Red Bull stage at Download Festival 2010. [2]
On 28 October 2010, the band announced their first studio album, The Summoning . A statement from the band via email to the G.O.L.D Members read "We are very happy to announce that our debut album "The Summoning" will be hitting all stores across Europe on 24 January 2011."
On 13 November 2010, the band released the video for the first single off the upcoming album: "Feeling Alive". [3] The video then went on to become an exclusive on Kerrang! - becoming Video of the Week.
On 24 January 2011, Glamour of the Kill released their first full studio album - The Summoning . This album was supported by a 29-date tour of the UK, starting on 17 February at The Lamp in Hull, with the final date on 2 April; when the band played The Cockpit in Leeds. They continued their presence in the Dirt video game series, with "Feeling Alive" being on the soundtrack of Dirt 3 .
From 5 October 2011 Glamour of the Kill will be one of the support acts for Forever The Sickest Kids UK tour along with Decade and Action Item. They played in Norwich, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Glasgow, Cardiff, Portsmouth and London. The tour ended on 13 October in London.
For the first time, Glamour of the Kill played their full debut album in its entirety in Manchester, Newcastle, York and Leicester from 15 to 18 December.
The band opened for We Came as Romans and Alesana along with Iwrestledabearonce across Europe and the UK in Jan/Feb. They then joined a European tour with Yashin and Dear Superstar across Europe in March/April. They were then added as the local support for the Newcastle date of the 2012 Jägermeister Music Tour, supporting Skindred, Therapy? and Black Spiders. The event was performed at the O2 Academy in Newcastle upon Tyne on Thursday 12 April 2012. [4] Shortly after the band signed to eOne Entertainment Music worldwide. October/November saw the band fly out for their first tour of the US on the Inked Music Tour along with Alesana, In Fear and Faith, Vampires Everywhere and This or the Apocalypse. Nov/Dec Band enter the studio to work on their second full-length album with producer Joey Sturgis and engineer Nick Scott. On 16 July, the first single off the band's upcoming second album, Savages , was released, entitled "Break". [5]
On 3 September, the new music video for "Second Chance" was released on YouTube. [6]
In September 2013, Glamour of the Kill toured alongside The Defiled as the support to Motionless in White on their Infamous UK Tour 2013. [7]
In March and April 2014, the band toured as main support for Heaven's Basement on their Welcome Home Tour. [8]
On 22 July 2015, the band announced that they were splitting up via an official statement on their Facebook page:
"The time has come for us to bring GOTK to a close for now. Whether or not we revisit this in the future is undecided, but we have no plans to write, record or tour.
[...] Music has been no way of us affording to live, pay bills, or do anything functioning human beings do. The massive cost associated with touring internationally means putting every single penny back into everything else. It has come to a point where we need to take a step back from this, and focus on other careers just to allow ourselves to get by.
[...] It is with heavy hearts we must bid you all farewell.” [9] [10]
On 17 March 2018, the band officially announced their comeback.
On 23 October 2018, the band released a new single called "Fire Fight" from the new upcoming album "Resurrection". The track was mixed and mastered by Innersound Audio Recording Studio. [11]
On 4 January 2019, the music video for "Resurrection", the title track off of the album, was released via the band's YouTube channel. The track was mixed and mastered by Innersound Audio Recording Studio. [12]
After the release of "Resurrection" the band went quiet, making only a few posts on social media before disappearing entirely. The final post on Facebook was made on the 17th November 2019; marking the 5 year anniversary since the EP After Hours.
As of 2020 it appears as though GOTK are no longer together as the members do not seem to be working together.[ citation needed ]
With the beginning of 2022 Davey and Craig are in separate bands, Davey fronting a band called "DeadFlight" Who released their debut album "Arrival" on the 20th January 2022. Craig joined a band called Caskets; formerly known as Captives but had to change the name due to an Australia based band trademarking the name "Captives". Caskets released their full length debut on 13th of August 2021. Mike and Ben appear to be working outside the music industry.

Reuben were an English three-piece musical group from Camberley, Surrey. Their music is a fusion of alternative rock and heavy metal, as their songs cover a variety of styles, ranging from heavy and upbeat, such as their 2005 single "Blamethrower" to slower, more melodic songs such as their 2004 single "Moving to Blackwater". The former style of song often featured vocalist Jamie Lenman switching between shouting and whispering, a technique often used in heavy metal and post-hardcore music. The band performed in the UK underground music scene. Although they attracted a significant fanbase, Reuben never achieved mainstream success, but did chart four songs in the UK Singles Chart. Their highest charting single was 2004's "Freddy Kreuger", that reached UK No. 53.
We Are Scientists is a New York City-based rock band that formed in Berkeley, California, in 1999. It consists primarily of guitarist and vocalist Keith Murray and bass guitarist Chris Cain, with drummer Keith Carne joining the band in the studio and for live performances since 2013.
Black Stone Cherry is an American rock band, formed in 2001 in Edmonton, Kentucky. They were signed to Roadrunner Records until 2015; the band is now signed to Mascot Label Group. The band consists of Chris Robertson, Ben Wells, Steve Jewell and John Fred Young. Black Stone Cherry has released eight studio albums as well as two EPs, and have charted seventeen singles on the US Mainstream Rock Tracks charts. Their latest album, Screamin' at the Sky, was released in 2023.
All Time Low is an American rock band from Towson, Maryland, formed in 2003. Consisting of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Alex Gaskarth, lead guitarist Jack Barakat, bassist/backing vocalist Zack Merrick, and drummer Rian Dawson, the band took its name from lyrics in the song "Head on Collision" by New Found Glory. The band has consistently done year-long tours, headlined numerous tours, and has appeared at music festivals including Warped Tour, Reading and Leeds, and Soundwave.
Bombay Bicycle Club are an English indie rock band from Crouch End, London, consisting of Jack Steadman, Jamie MacColl, Suren de Saram, and Ed Nash. They are guitar-fronted and have experimented with different genres, including folk, electronica, world music and indie rock.
A Loss for Words was an American pop punk band from Abington, Massachusetts.
William Control is an American music project founded in 2008 in Seattle, Washington. It was the side project of Aiden's William Francis before Aiden's hiatus, and he later operated as William Control full-time. 'William Control' therefore refers to both the band as a whole and to Francis as his stage name. Francis was signed to Victory Records before starting his own independent label, Control Records, and, as William Control, has released five full-length albums, an EP, two acoustic albums, two live DVDs and a remix album (Remix). The first part of Revelations, The Pale, was released on October 14, 2016. The second EP The Black followed on February 17, 2017, and the third, entitled The Red, followed that with a release date of July 14 of the same year. The album was completed by The White on November 24.
Codeine Velvet Club was a Scottish alternative rock band formed in 2009 by Lou Hickey and Jon Lawler, while Lawler's band The Fratellis were taking a hiatus after their second album Here We Stand. Codeine Velvet Club's sole album, their self titled debut album was released on 28 December 2009 in the UK and on 6 April 2010 in the US.
We Came as Romans is an American metalcore band from Troy, Michigan. Formed in 2005, the band has gone through one name change and multiple line-up changes, and signed to SharpTone Records in 2016 after having been on roster of Equal Vision Records since 2009. They have released six studio albums – To Plant a Seed (2009), Understanding What We've Grown to Be (2011), Tracing Back Roots (2013), We Came as Romans (2015), Cold Like War (2017) and Darkbloom (2022) – and two EPs in 2008 titled Demonstrations and Dreams.
Black Veil Brides is an American rock band based in Hollywood, California. The group formed in 2006 in Cincinnati, Ohio, and is currently composed of lead vocalist Andy Biersack, rhythm guitarist and violinist Jinxx, lead guitarist Jake Pitts, drummer Christian "CC" Coma and bassist Lonny Eagleton. Black Veil Brides are known for their use of black makeup, body paint, tight black studded clothing, and long hair, which were all inspired by the stage personas of Kiss and Mötley Crüe, as well as other 1980s glam metal acts.
Don Broco are a British rock band formed in Bedford, England, in 2008. The band consists of Rob Damiani, Simon Delaney (guitar), Tom Doyle and Matt Donnelly. The band have released four studio albums, including Priorities (2012), Automatic (2015) and Technology (2018). Their most recent album Amazing Things (2021) was their first to reach No.1 in the UK Album Charts.
The Defiled were a four-piece British band from London mixing groove-laden hardcore/metal with electronic music influences. They have been described by Kerrang! magazine as "The saviours of UK Metal" and championed by Metal Hammer as one of the leaders in a new wave of British metal along with bands such as While She Sleeps, Bury Tomorrow and Devil Sold His Soul. The band have built a fanbase following support slots with bands such as Murderdolls, Static-X, Godsmack, Deathstars and Motionless in White as well as playing Bloodstock, Download and Sonisphere festivals.
Tonight Alive are an Australian rock band from Sydney. As of 2023, the band consists of lead vocalist Jenna McDougall, guitarists Jake Hardy and Whakaio Taahi, bassist Cameron Adler, and drummer Matty Best.
The Blackout are a rock band from Merthyr Tydfil, Wales, formed in 2003. They released their EP The Blackout! The Blackout! The Blackout! In October 2007 the band released their debut album, We Are the Dynamite. Their second record, The Best in Town, was released on 25 May 2009 in Europe and 23 June 2009 in the US, both via Epitaph Records. The band's third album – titled Hope, was released on 4 April 2011, and charted at number 27 in the UK album chart. Their fourth studio album, titled Start the Party, was released on 21 January 2013. The Blackout's final release was a five track EP entitled Wolves, with their farewell tour held in early 2015, finishing in their hometown of Merthyr Tydfil on Saturday 28 March 2015.
Hands Like Houses are an Australian rock band from Canberra. Formed in 2008, the group is currently signed to Hopeless Records and UNFD. Their debut album, Ground Dweller, was released on 13 March 2012, charting at number 141 on the Billboard 200 and number 2 on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart. Their second album, Unimagine, was released on 23 July 2013, during their route on Warped Tour. The band's third album, Dissonants was released on 26 February 2016, followed by their fourth, Anon, on 12 October 2018.
While She Sleeps are a British metalcore band from Sheffield. Formed in 2006, the group consists of vocalist Lawrence Taylor, guitarists Sean Long and Mat Welsh, bassist Aaran McKenzie and drummer Adam Savage. They are currently signed to their own label Sleeps Brothers in the UK and in collaboration with Spinefarm Records in the US and UNFD in Australia. They have released three EPs, And This Is Just the Start, Split and The North Stands for Nothing, and five studio albums, This Is the Six, Brainwashed, You Are We, So What? and Sleeps Society. They received the Best British Newcomer award at the Kerrang! Awards 2012. The group has maintained the same line-up since its formation, with vocalist Taylor being the only bandmate who is not an original member. Despite this, he has still appeared on every release apart from the group's first two EPs.
We Have Band, also known as "WHB", is a three-piece electronic music group from Manchester and London consisting of Darren Bancroft and the husband-and-wife duo Thomas Wegg-Prosser and Dede Wegg-Prosser. They have released three albums through the French-based Naïve Records. Their first album, WHB, was released on 5 April 2010 and a ten-track second album, Ternion, was released on 29 January 2012. We Have Band have remixed many artists including Gorillaz, Bloc Party, Micachu, Peter Bjorn and John and M83.
The Dirty Youth are a British rock band from South Wales that formed in 2007. The band's line-up consists of singer Danni Monroe, guitarist/keyboardist Matt Bond, guitarist Luke Padfield, bassist Leon Watkins and drummer Jacob Moseley.
The Tuts were an English DIY pop punk, "three-tone" band from Hayes, Greater London. They received extensive coverage from alternative music radio, most notably Amazing Radio, and from music websites such as Louder Than War which published multiple articles on the group, calling them "one of the UK's most exciting bands". The band, particularly frontwoman Nadia Javed, were the subject of a feature in the ITV series Young, British and Muslim in April 2018.
