Old Goa is a historical site and city situated on the southern banks of the River Mandovi, within the Tiswadi taluka (Ilhas) of North Goa district, in the Indian state of Goa.

Chorão, also known as Choddnnem or Chodan, is an island along the Mandovi River near Tiswadi, Goa, India. It is the largest among other 17 islands of Goa. It is located 5 kilometres away from the state capital, the city of Panaji and 10 kilometres away from the city of Mapusa.
As Velhas Conquistas or "the Old Conquests" are a grouping of the areas in Goa which were incorporated into Portuguese India early in the sixteenth century AD; as these areas underwent urbanisation they were elevated to concelhos (municipalities) by the Portuguese Viceroyalty that ruled from the administrative centre at Velha Goa. Having been acquired in AD 1510 or within the next few years, they formed the oldest parts and the core of Portuguese Goa and remain as the central theme in the history geography and culture of present-day Goa and Daman. Tiswadi, formerly known as Ilhas de Goa, is a sub district in the district of North Goa, situated in the Indian coastal state of Goa. Goa Island, locally known as Watólofu, also known as Saint George Island, is a small archetypal desert peninsula, with a flat rocky brown coral reef, outcrop with dense borderline vegetation, white sand beach and a lighthouse. It is surrounded by crystal clear water, home to a variety of tropical fishes. The island is uninhabited and located within Nampula Province in Mozambique. It is situated in the Indian Ocean near Mozambique Channel about 5 km (3.1 mi) east of Mozambique Island and is part of the archipelago with Island of Sena and Island of Mozambique.
Fort Naroa was situated on the eastern tip of the Island of Divar, on the Ilhas de Goa near the old capital of Goa, in the Velhas Conquistas. It was originally built as a military camp by the Deccan sultanates in the 1500s. After its capture by the Portuguese, it was rebuilt and reinforced to protect the eastern border against the Bijapur Sultanate. After the incorporation of the Novas Conquistas regions, the fort lost its sole and primary purpose and it was subsequently abandoned by1834 to now be in ruins.
