God Has Nothing to Do with This Leave Him Out of It is the second studio album by Zambian-Canadian rapper Backxwash. It was self-released on May 28, 2020 through Grimalkin Records. Production was primarily handled by Backxwash herself, along with Fatherfake, Skin, and Will Owen Bennett, who are featured on the project as well as Black Dresses and Malldate. The album won the 2020 Polaris Music Prize. [4]

God Has Nothing to Do with This Leave Him Out of It was met with generally positive reviews from music critics. At Album of the Year, which assigns a normalized rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream publications, the album received an average score of 88 based on four reviews. [6]

Scott Simpson of Exclaim! wrote that "with most songs clocking in at under three minutes, this release has a real sense of immediacy and urgency while still managing to weave a compelling larger story". [5] Merlin Alderslade of Metal Hammer praised the album, saying "the whole thing is barely more than 20 minutes long, and yet it's packing more ideas than many bands manage in an entire career. And it's fucking brilliant". [2] Lloyd Best of God Is in the TV stated, "a raw and aggressive, mostly self-produced album with a level of honesty that is commendable and a showcase of skill that sets the bar high". [7] Anthony Fantano said: "with its chilling mix of rap, goth, punk, and noise, God Has Nothing to Do With This has a huge impact for such a concise project". [6]

<i>Lamb of God</i> (album) 2020 studio album by Lamb of God

Lamb of God is the tenth studio album by American heavy metal band Lamb of God. The album was initially set for release on May 8, 2020, through Epic and Nuclear Blast, but was later pushed back to June 19 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Lamb of God marks the first studio album of all-new material by the band since 2015's VII: Sturm und Drang, making it the longest gap between their albums, and the first to feature Art Cruz as the replacement for original drummer Chris Adler, who left the band in July 2019. Lamb of God was once again produced by longtime collaborator Josh Wilbur, who has worked with the band since 2006's Sacrament.

The 2020 edition of the Canadian Polaris Music Prize was presented on October 19, 2020. The longlist was announced on June 15, 2020, with the shortlist following on July 15, 2020 and the winner announced on October 19, 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the traditional winner's gala did not take place this year, and instead a special cinematic tribute to the shortlist was streamed online by CBC Music and CBC Gem, following which the winner was announced.

Rachel Dorothea Knight, professionally known as Banshee, is an American heavy metal musician based in Los Angeles. Active since 2018, she is known for her signature style of "fairy metal", a blend of trap, hyperpop, black metal, and witch house, with lyrics that aggressively confront misogyny, abuse, and predatory behavior based on her experiences in the metal scene. Since building a following on TikTok in 2020, Knight has released three studio albums: Fuck With a Banshee (2021), Fairy Metal (2022), and Birth of Venus (2023). Her music has received attention from Revolver, Loudwire, and Metal Hammer, and she has collaborated with artists including rapper Backxwash.
