John Anthony Frusciante is an American musician. He has been the guitarist for the Red Hot Chili Peppers across three stints, and has released 11 solo albums and 7 EPs, ranging in style from acoustic guitar to electronic music. In 2023, Rolling Stone named Frusciante the 25th greatest guitarist of all time. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Red Hot Chili Peppers in 2012.

Estrus EP is the first EP by John Frusciante, a 7" extended play released in 1997. Only 400–500 copies of this vinyl EP were pressed and could be purchased through Birdman Recordings. Josh Adam Klinghoffer is an American musician best known for being the guitarist for the rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers from 2009 to 2019, with whom he recorded two studio albums, I'm with You (2011) and The Getaway (2016), and the b-sides compilation I'm Beside You (2013). Klinghoffer took the place of his friend and frequent collaborator John Frusciante in 2009, after a period as a touring member. At age 32, Klinghoffer was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the Red Hot Chili Peppers in 2012, making him the youngest at the time, and currently second youngest inductee ever, as of 2023.

Swahili Blonde is an experimental musical project formed in Los Angeles, California in 2009. Founded by former WEAVE! drummer and vocalist Nicole Turley, violinist and bassist Laena Myers-Ionita, Duran Duran bassist John Taylor and multi-instrumentalists Stella Mozgawa and Michael Quinn. Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist and Turley's now ex-husband, John Frusciante, performs guitar on the band's recordings, and did perform alongside the group at their debut performance, while he was briefly a full-time band member.

The record was digitally released on April 30, 2010. It is the twentieth release by Omar, and their second collaboration following 2005's "0=2" vinyl single, which appears on this record along with its b-side, "0". These two tracks have been available digitally since October 3, 2006. This album was a free download with the option to donate for a period of time.
