Trickfinger II is the second studio album by Trickfinger, the alias of musician John Frusciante, released on 8 September 2017 on the AcidTest label. [2] The six songs were recorded in 2007 at the same time as his full-length Trickfinger album.
Like its predecessor, the former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist recorded the music for Trickfinger II back in 2007. Using a fleet of hardware synths and drum machines, the six-track LP was recorded live onto a CD burner, through a cheap mixer. John would sit on a chair, in his living room, surrounded by five to 15 machines, and just keep programming and jamming until the track was ready to be recorded. There were no overdubs – recorded all live. The music was never intended for release and made purely for discovery and learning experience, but Frusciante eventually agreed to publish the recordings on Oliver Bristow's Acid Test, which has been home to the likes of Donato Dozzy, Recondite and Tin Man. Trickfinger II was made available on vinyl, CD and as a digital download. [3] He has said this about the making of the Trickfinger albums:
In my opinion, making music with no intention of releasing it is the best thing a musician can do for his own development in this day and age. The Trickfinger LP was made in that mindset, and it was the beginning of a new musical life for me. When I hear it, it sounds like I am opening up doorways to new worlds, and I never have had that feeling listening to music I made for the purpose of releasing it and selling it.
Acid Test unearthed these recordings and John agreed to a release. Trickfinger II is the second part to the recordings made during the winter of 2007.

John Anthony Frusciante is an American musician best known as the guitarist and backing vocalist of the rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers across three stints. He has also released 12 solo albums and seven EPs.
Smile from the Streets You Hold is the second studio album by John Frusciante. It was released on August 26, 1997 on Birdman Records, while Frusciante was addicted to drugs and was no longer performing with Red Hot Chili Peppers. The record is an amalgamation of songs from various periods of time, mainly extras not included on Frusciante's debut Niandra Lades and Usually Just a T-Shirt (1994); included, however, are several tracks recorded in 1993, 1994, 1996 and "A Fall Thru the Ground" from 1988.
Niandra LaDes and Usually Just a T-Shirt is the debut solo album by John Frusciante, released on November 22, 1994, on American Recordings. Frusciante released the album after encouragement from several friends, who told him that there was "no good music around anymore."
To Record Only Water for Ten Days is the third studio album by American musician John Frusciante, released in 2001 through Warner Music Group. Shadows Collide With People is the fourth studio album by John Frusciante, released February 24, 2004. The album was written during the recording of By the Way, and is widely regarded as his most accessible work, featuring a mix of guitar-driven alternative rock, folk ballads, and electronica. Frusciante has stated that this was his most expensive album to date, costing around $150,000 to produce, a significant departure from his earlier albums, which had been recorded at home on multitrack recording devices. Frusciante noted, "I was sick and tired of people dismissing my records as being fucked-up and unprofessional."
By the Way is the eighth studio album by American rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers, released July 9, 2002, on Warner Bros. Records. It sold more than 286,000 copies in its first week, and peaked at number two on the Billboard 200. Singles included "By the Way," "The Zephyr Song," "Can't Stop," "Dosed" and "Universally Speaking". Stadium Arcadium is the ninth studio album by American rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers. It was released on May 9, 2006, on Warner Bros. Records. It produced five singles: "Dani California", "Tell Me Baby", "Snow ", "Desecration Smile" and "Hump de Bump", along with the first-ever fan-made music video for the song "Charlie". In the United States, Stadium Arcadium became the band's first number-one album. Stadium Arcadium was originally scheduled to be a trilogy of albums each released six months apart, but was eventually condensed into a double album. AW II is the second studio album by Ataxia, released on May 29, 2007 on Record Collection. The album is the second half of the band's sole recording session which took place in January 2004. The lineup features John Frusciante on guitars and vocals, Josh Klinghoffer on drums, and Joe Lally's bass guitar. The album is released under the Record Collection label, as is the solo work of Klinghoffer and Frusciante.
Josh Adam Klinghoffer is an American musician best known for being the former guitarist for the rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers from 2009 to 2019, with whom he recorded two studio albums, I'm with You (2011) and The Getaway (2016), and the b-sides compilation, I'm Beside You (2013). Klinghoffer took the place of his friend and frequent collaborator John Frusciante in 2009, after a period as a touring member. Klinghoffer was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the Red Hot Chili Peppers in 2012, becoming the Hall of Fame's youngest-ever living inductee at age 32, passing Stevie Wonder, who was 38 when he was inducted. He was surpassed by Nine Inch Nails member Ilan Rubin in 2020.
The Empyrean is the eighth solo album by John Frusciante, released worldwide on January 20, 2009 through Record Collection. Frusciante did not plan on a following tour, as he instead wanted to focus on writing and recording. The Empyrean peaked at number 151 on the US Billboard 200 as well as number seven on the Top Heatseekers. On release it made number 105 on the UK Albums Chart.
Omar Rodriguez Lopez & John Frusciante is a collaborative studio album by American artists Omar Rodríguez-López, guitarist of The Mars Volta, and John Frusciante, guitarist of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The record was digitally released on April 30, 2010. It is the twentieth release by Omar, and their second collaboration following 2005's "0=2" vinyl single, which appears on this record along with its b-side, "0". These two tracks have been available digitally since October 3, 2006. This album was a free download with the option to donate for a period of time. All money raised has gone to "Keep Music in Schools". The album can now be downloaded for $3.99.
Letur-Lefr is the fourth EP by John Frusciante, released on July 17, 2012 on Record Collection. It was released in multiple formats including 32-bit digital download and cassette. The EP features Frusciante singing, playing all the instruments and engineering, as well as his ex-wife performing backing vocals and a "few friends on vocals, mostly MC'ing".
