Golden Glory was a Muay Thai, kickboxing and mixed martial arts camp and management team, based in the Netherlands. [2]

Description

Golden Glory was founded in 1999 by Bas Boon, and Frederico Lapenda. Golden Glory's professional MMA and kickboxing roster included Semmy Schilt, Gilbert Yvel, Ilonka Elmont, Ramon Dekkers, Alistair Overeem, Marloes Coenen, Sergei Kharitonov, Gokhan Saki, Errol Zimmerman, Jon Olav Einemo, Ashwin Balrak, Nieky Holzken, Chalid Arrab, Bas Rutten and Alexandru Lungu who have fought in promotions such as K-1, Shooto, K-1 HERO'S, Pancrase, PRIDE FC, DREAM, Strikeforce, and the UFC.

The founders of Golden Glory also founded the World Vale Tudo Championships, a tournament which featured champions the likes of Oleg Taktarov, Mark Kerr, Pedro Rizzo, and Marco Ruas.[ citation needed ]

At the beginning of 2009, in January, Golden Glory opened a dojo in Bucharest, Romania in the presence of Bas Boon, Dave Jonkers and Semmy Schilt. [3] After the successful opening of the Golden Glory Romania gym - Golden Glory also opened a gym in Pattaya, Thailand. [4] In November 2010 opened in Berlin, Germany a Golden Glory Gym as well as Golden Glory Turkey, Georgia, Moscow, England.

In October 2010 Golden Glory announced plans to open a satellite gym in Huntington Beach, California, USA. [5]

In the summer of 2011, in the wake of Alistair Overeem's removal from the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix a dispute emerged between the management of Golden Glory and the Zuffa organization which led to the termination of Valentijn Overeem, Jon Olav Einemo and Marloes Coenen's contracts with the UFC and Strikeforce. [6]

In 2012, Golden Glory was bought and absorbed by the new kickboxing organization Glory. A number of people formerly involved with the Golden Glory team became Glory consultants. [7]

Valentijn Overeem is a retired Dutch professional Mixed martial Artist and Kickboxer currently signed with United Glory. A professional competitor since 1996, he has previously fought for the PRIDE Fighting Championships, RINGS, KSW, the World Fighting Alliance, K-1, M-1 Global, Its Showtime, World Victory Road, and Strikeforce. He is the older brother of fellow MMA Superstar Alistair Overeem.

He is the only fighter in K-1 history to win the world championship three times in a row, and also shares the record with Ernesto Hoost for most Grands Prix won, with four.

Marloes Coenen is a retired Dutch mixed martial artist. She competed professionally from 2000 to 2017 and is a former Strikeforce Women's Bantamweight Champion.

She competed in the 2H2H, SLAMM events, Danger Zone events and holds world titles of various fighting organizations such as WMTC, MTBN, IMKO, EPMTF, NKBB. Elmont was famous for her unorthodox fighting style with fast combinations and stinging knees. She is a technical all-round and skilled fighter with powerful kicks and knee strikes and clinching. With her unorthodox fighting style she surprised many experienced fighters and had a tendency to go head-to-head with her opponents. She is known as one of the top ranked female fighters of the Netherlands such as Lucia Rijker, Denise Kielholtz, Marloes Coenen and Germaine de Randamie.

Fatih Kocamis is a German/Turkish retired mixed martial artist and kickboxer who fought in Pride Fighting Championships, RINGS, K-1 and M-1 Global. He trained with the Golden Glory team, alongside Chalid Arrab, Stefan Leko and Alistair Overeem.

Martijn de Jong is a Dutch mixed martial artist. He competed in the Middleweight division.

Ciprian Sora is a Romanian kickboxing trainer and founder of the Golden Glory Romania gym in Bucharest. As an athlete, he became the first ever Romanian to win a gold medal at the Muay Thai world championships in 1999 and still holds the record for that. Sora had an amateur record of 75–5, being undefeated in Romania throughout his career before turning professional. He signed with Local Kombat, the future SUPERKOMBAT, in 2004.

Michael Passenier is a Dutch kickboxing trainer who owns Mike's Gym in Oostzaan, Netherlands. He is also known by the nickname "Big Mike".

Bastiaan Simon Boon, popularly known as Bas Boon, is a Dutch producer and director best known for his work in Bad Guys (2008), Shut Up and Shoot! (2006) and How It All Went Down (2003). He is the founder of Golden Glory, a network association of mixed martial artists, and kickboxers headquartered in Curacau Dutch Antilles and had offices in the Netherlands and Thailand and several Golden Glory Gyms around the world. Bas is also the co-founder of the brand Fight Game and a project on YouTube named "Kato Boon Family Goes Pigshit.”
