"Goodbye Angels" is the fourth single from The Getaway , an album by the American rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers. The song was released to radio on April 4, 2017. [1] This would be the final single the band would release with guitarist Josh Klinghoffer, as previous guitarist John Frusciante returned to the band in 2019.
On April 14, 2017, Chad Smith announced on Twitter that the band would be shooting the video for the song that night at their show in Atlanta, and for fans to "wear something colorful". [3] The video for Goodbye Angels was released on May 9, 2017, and is directed by Thoranna Sigurdardottir also known as TOTA and stars Klara Kristin. [4]
The video switches between a storyline following a girl's night and live footage of the band. Initially, the girl is partying with friends in a parking lot, and soon she has to outrun a security guard and she steals a bike to pedal to a show. When she arrives, she steals someone's beer, and encounters Anthony Kiedis, Chad Smith, and Flea backstage. She briefly makes out with another woman in a toilet to get a pill from her pocket, then watches the rest of the show. By the end, she finds herself crying alone as crew members clear the empty arena. [4] [5]
"Goodbye Angels" was first performed live in July 2016 at the band's T in the Park headlining set in Scotland. [6]

Josh Adam Klinghoffer is an American musician best known for being the guitarist for the rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers from 2009 to 2019, with whom he recorded two studio albums, I'm with You (2011) and The Getaway (2016), and the b-sides compilation I'm Beside You (2013). Klinghoffer took the place of his friend and frequent collaborator John Frusciante in 2009, after a period as a touring member. At age 32, Klinghoffer was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the Red Hot Chili Peppers in 2012, making him the youngest at the time. He is also a touring member of Pearl Jam and Jane's Addiction.
Silverlake Conservatory of Music is a nonprofit educational organization formed in California. It was founded in 2001 by Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea and Chili Peppers collaborator Tree to foster music education. Chili Peppers vocalist Anthony Kiedis is also on the board.

This is the band's second and final album with guitarist Josh Klinghoffer before the return of John Frusciante in 2019, with Rubin also returning soon thereafter.
The Getaway World Tour was a concert tour by American rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers that was in support of their eleventh studio album, The Getaway which was released on June 17, 2016. It marked the first time since June 2014 that the band has toured. The tour began with benefit shows and North American festival dates in February 2016 followed by a summer festival tour with dates in Europe, Asia and North America starting in May 2016 and ending in August 2016. The headlining tour to support the album began in Europe in September 2016 and lasted until the end of the year with the North American tour beginning in January 2017 and concluded in July 2017. Another European leg and dates in South America followed along with rescheduled shows and festival dates in North America in October 2017 to wrap up the tour. The band had festival dates in March 2018 for South America but they were not considered part of this tour. It was also the band's last tour with their guitarist Josh Klinghoffer before his departure from the band in late December 2019, as their previous guitarist John Frusciante rejoined the group at that time.
