Goodwood Kartways is a multiple configuration karting centre located in Uxbridge, Ontario, Canada. [1] [2] The facility spans 20 acres of land and features just shy of one kilometre of racing surface with a 10-turn road course. Since 1994 the facility has been owned and operated by the Di Leo family, brothers Marco and Daniel, father Frank and sister Stefanie. [3] [4]

History

The circuit is one of the oldest operating kart racing facilities in North America. It has been operational for over 60 years. [5] The race track has groomed Canadian race heroes such as Ron Fellows, [6] Paul Tracy, [7] and Daniel Morad [8]

Goodwood Kartways has been operated by several different groups but owned by Frank Di Leo. Currently Daniel and Marco Di Leo run operations. [9] [10] [11] Daniel and Marco [12] are accomplished kart racers. [13]

In 2003 The Sunoco Ron Fellows Championship Presented by Toronto Wheels was held at Goodwood Kartways where Daniel Di Leo competed in the senior competition. [14] In 2005 [15] and again in 2007 [16] the facility hosted the fourth season opener of the series.

In 2009 the facility hosted the Canadian National Karting Championship. A multiple month expansion was performed to improve the quality of the facility to accommodate the karting community. The paddock area was expanded and increased by 50%, 1,200 square foot timing and scoring hut was built adjacent to the track and the track surface underwent reconditioning for a safety upgrade. [17]

In 2011 Goodwood Kartways hosted the season opener of the 2011 Eastern Canadian Karting Championship. [18]

In 2012 the facility underwent a major renovation. The track surface was completely repaved adding significant run off and a modern safety barrier for the first corner and extra run off as well as new curbing in several corners. [19]

In 2013 the facility again hosted the Canadian National Karting Championship.

Goodwood Kartways is the home of the non-profit organization Toronto Racing Association of Karters

Race Team

The Goodwood Kartways/Intrepid Canada race team represents the facility at both National and International Championships like the Florida Winter Tour, Champion Ron Fellows Karting Challenge, Pfaff Kartsport Cup and Canadian National Championships. The Di Leo family has also recently expanded their affiliation with Intrepid Canada to form Intrepid America. [20]

Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park (TSMP), formerly Thompson Speedway and Thompson International Speedway, is a motorsports park in Thompson, Connecticut, featuring a 5⁄8 mi (1.0 km) high-banked paved oval racetrack with 13,000 seats, and a 1.7 mi (2.7 km) road racing course. Once known as the "Indianapolis of the East", it was the first asphalt-paved racing oval track in the United States and is now under the American-Canadian Tour (ACT) and Pro All Star Series (PASS) banners. These sanctioning bodies are the current operators of the oval, which was leased by them in 2021. Gimli Motorsports Park is a multi-track motorsports facility located in Gimli, Manitoba, Canada. The 95-hectare facility features a 1/4-mile dragstrip, a 1.3-mile road racing course, a one-kilometre karting track and a two-kilometre motocross track. The park hosts events for motorsports groups including the Winnipeg Sports Car Club, Drag Racing Association of Manitoba, Manitoba Roadracing Association (Superbikes), and the Manitoba Karting Association.

Zubair Hoque is an English racing driver. He is the only British Asian in single-seat formula racing.

Roborace was a competition with autonomously driving, electrically powered vehicles. Founded in 2015 by Denis Sverdlov, it aimed to be the first global championship for autonomous cars. From 2017 to 2019, the official CEO was 2016–17 Formula E champion, Lucas Di Grassi, who later became a member of Roborace’s supervisory board. The series tested their technology and race formats at FIA Formula E Championship events during 2016–2018. In 2019 Roborace organized Season Alpha, which consisted of 4 trial racing events with several independent teams competing against each other for the first time. In 2020–21 Roborace held Season Beta with 7 competing teams. All teams utilized the same chassis and powertrain, but they had to develop their own real-time computing algorithms and artificial intelligence technologies.

Trenton Estep is an American professional racing driver. Estep grew up racing karts from the age of 4 years old in New Braunfels, Texas. He competed in various karting competitions such as SKUSA Pro Tour, Florida Winter Tour, US Open and Rotax Grand Finals in Portugal. In 2016 he made the transition from karts to open wheel cars. He entered the Formula Tour F1600, Canadian F1600 Super Series and F1600 Championship Series winning two Championships. He also ran in the opening round of the Redbull Global Rallycross Championship in Phoenix Arizona. In 2017 Estep made his transition from open wheel to cars in the North American Porsche GT3 Cup Series, with JDX Racing. Estep finished on podium 11 of 16 races with multiple wins placing 3rd in the Porsche GT3 Cup Championship. In 2018 he returned to the Porsche GT3 Cup series with JDX Racing with renewed sponsorship by Hertz Global along with a new sponsor Byers Porsche of Columbus Ohio. Estep went on to finish on Podium in 14 of 16 races winning the 2018 IMSA Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Championship. A final honor to end his season was being chosen by Porsche Motorsports to attend the Porsche Junior Programme Shootout in Le Castellet at Circuit Paul Ricard. Estep was only 1 of 11 and the youngest at age 18 of the top Porsche drivers from all over the world under the age of 25 to receive the exclusive invite. At the end of the 2022 Porsche Carrera Cup North America season Trenton was chosen by Porsche Motorsport North America as a "Porsche Selected Driver" for 2023. Starting in 2019 through present Trenton is a professional driver coach and driver for MDK Motorsports based in Pataskala Ohio.

The 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 250 was the 15th stock car race of the 2017 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and the fifth iteration of the event. The race was held on Sunday, September 3, 2017, in Bowmanville, Ontario, at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, a 2.459 miles (3.957 km) permanent road course. The race took the scheduled 64 laps to complete. At race's end, Austin Cindric, driving for Brad Keselowski Racing, would spin out eventual-third-place finisher, GMS Racing driver Kaz Grala on the final lap to win his first and to date, only career NASCAR Camping World Truck Series win and his only win of the season. To fill out the podium, Noah Gragson of Kyle Busch Motorsports would finish second.
