Gosford Showground is a muli-use stadium in Gosford, Australia. It is mainly used for greyhound racing [1] and motorcycle speedway. [2] [3]
The stadium was opened on 18 February 1936 by the Gosford Greyhound Racing Club. The track, throughout its history has run greyhound racing. [4]
The speedway track is located inside the greyhound course and has also been known as the Central Coast Speedway. [2]
The track has been a significant venue for important motorcycle speedway events, including qualifying rounds of the Speedway World Championship (the first in 1994). [5] [6]
It has also held the final of the Australian Solo Championship (the first in 1995) [7] and the New South Wales Individual Speedway Championship on 13 occasions from 1994 to 2009. [8]
Motorcycle speedway, usually referred to simply as speedway, is a motorcycle sport involving four and sometimes up to six riders competing over four anti-clockwise laps of an oval circuit. The motorcycles are specialist machines that use only one gear and have no brakes. Racing takes place on a flat oval track usually consisting of dirt, loosely packed shale, or crushed rock. Competitors use this surface to slide their machines sideways, powersliding or broadsiding into the bends. On the straight sections of the track, the motorcycles reach speeds of up to 70 miles per hour (110 km/h).
Harringay Stadium was a major greyhound racing and motorcycle speedway venue in Harringay, north London. It was built and opened in 1927 and closed in 1987.
Odsal Stadium in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England, is a multi-purpose stadium currently the home of Bradford Bulls Rugby League team and Yorstox Stock Cars who host regular monthly meetings of BriSCA F1 Stock Cars and BriSCA F2 Stock Cars. They currently compete in the SGB Premiership, racing at The National Speedway Stadium, with home matches usually taking place on Monday evenings. Brandon Stadium, also known as Coventry Stadium, is located 6 miles east of Coventry in Brandon, Warwickshire, England. It was the home of the Coventry Bees motorcycle speedway team. It also hosted BriSCA F1 Stock Car Racing on the 1st Saturday of the month from April through to November. From 1978 until early 2016 it intermittently hosted greyhound racing. As of 2023, it is closed and has become dilapidated after several fires, including an arson attack in 2022.

The Loxford Park Speedway is a motorcycle speedway track located in the area of Loxford, near Kurri Kurri in New South Wales (NSW). It is home to the Kurri Kurri Speedway Club and the Kurri Cobras. Loxford Park also has a 135 m (148 yd) junior track, built on the infield of the main track with the junior track joining onto the main straight and sharing the start-finish line. The site also hosts sidecar racing.
Maitland Showground is an multi-purpose outdoor recreational area located on Blomfield Street, Evans Street and Louth Park Road, in Maitland, New South Wales, Australia. The site is used for the annual Maitland Show. It also includes the greyhound racing stadium known as Maitland Greyhounds and the Maitland Harness Racing Club, around the exterior of the greyhound track. The site is also a historic landmark for motorcycle speedway having been regarded as the birth of the sport on 15 December 1923.
