Braitling is a suburb of the town of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory, Australia.

The suburb is named after Bill and Doreen Braitling, who established Mount Doreen Station in 1930. [3]

Arunga Park Speedway 23°40′13″S133°52′33″E / 23.67028°S 133.87583°E / -23.67028; 133.87583 on the eastern edge of Braitling, off the Herbert Heritage Dr [4] hosted important motorcycle speedway events, including qualifying rounds of the Speedway World Championship (starting in 1986). [5] [6]

Greatorex was an electoral division of the Legislative Assembly in Australia's Northern Territory. It was first created in 1990, replacing the abolished electorate of Sadadeen, and was named after Tony Greatorex, the last President of the Legislative Council. Greatorex was a mostly urban electorate, covering an area of 76 km², and encompassing the Alice Springs suburbs of Sadadeen and Traeger Park. There were 4,606 people enrolled in the electorate as of August 2012.

The 1991 Australian Individual Speedway Championship was the 1991 version of the Australian Individual Speedway Championship organised by Motorcycling Australia. The final took place on 27 January at the Arunga Park Speedway in Alice Springs in the Northern Territory. Sydney's Craig Boyce won his first Australian championship from defending champion Glenn Doyle with veteran Glyn Taylor third. Boyce was unbeaten on the night to win his first Australian Championship.

The Alice Springs Telegraph Station is located within the Alice Springs Telegraph Station Historical Reserve, four kilometres north of the Alice Springs town centre in the Northern Territory of Australia. Established in 1872 to relay messages between Darwin and Adelaide, it is the original site of the first European settlement in central Australia. It was one of twelve stations along the Overland Telegraph Line.

Doreen Rose Braitling was a pioneering pastoralist and heritage advocate of Central Australia. After moving from Mount Doreen Station to Alice Springs in 1959, Braitling became involved in the preservation of the town's historic buildings through the National Trust of the Northern Territory Inc. She was often called upon to give talks on the history of Central Australia, which were broadcast on radio. She was also known for writing stories and poetry.
