The Government Technical Institute, Mawlamyine (Burmese : အစိုးရစက်မှုလက်မှုသိပ္ပံ (မော်လမြိုင်)) is an Institute of technology and engineering located in Mawlamyine, Mon State, Burma. It can graduate only Diploma of Technical.^[1]

Burmese language language spoken in Myanmar

The Burmese language is the Sino-Tibetan language spoken in Myanmar where it is an official language and the language of the Bamar people, the country's principal ethnic group. Although the Constitution of Myanmar officially recognizes the English name of the language as the Myanmar language, most English speakers continue to refer to the language as Burmese, after Burma, the older name for Myanmar. In 2007, it was spoken as a first language by 33 million, primarily the Bamar (Burman) people and related ethnic groups, and as a second language by 10 million, particularly ethnic minorities in Myanmar and neighboring countries.

History

In 2014 December, Government Technical Institute (Mawlamyine) was founded by Ministry of Science and Technology. (Not to be confused with the previous Government Technological Institute from the other part of Mawlamyine later upgraded as Technological University (Mawlamyine)).

The Ministry of Science and Technology administers Burma's science and technology research and development affairs. MOST was established on 2 October 1996 under Order No. 30/96.

Technological University, Mawlamyine is a technological and engineering university located in Mawlamyine, Mon State, Burma.

Location

GTI Mawlamyine is located at Industrial Quarter, Mawlamyine, that was Computer University (Mawlamyine).^[1]

Mawlamyine, formerly Moulmein, is the fourth largest city of Myanmar (Burma), 300 km south east of Yangon and 70 km south of Thaton, at the mouth of Thanlwin (Salween) River. The city is the capital and largest city of Mon State and the main trading center and seaport in south eastern Myanmar.

Being established in 1953, Mawlamyine University is the third oldest Arts and Science university in the country after Yangon University and Mandalay University. It was formerly opened as Government Technological Institute (GTI) in 1999 and then promoted as Government Technological College (GTC) in 2001. It was upgraded to university level as Technological University in 2007.

Technological University (Kyaukse) is a university under the Ministry of Education. It is located at Kyaukse township, Mandalay Region, Myanmar. Government Technical Institute (Kyaukse) was initially opened on 9, December, 1998 at Myopet Street, Yesu Quarter in Kyaukse. The board of the government of Union of Myanmar upgraded it to the Government Technological College (Kyaukse) on 210, January, 2001 and then it to Technological University (Kyaukse) on 20, January, 2007.

The Technological University, Mandalay is located in the Northern Mandalay near the Mandalay Hill, Mandalay Region, Myanmar. From 1955, the school was known as the Government Technical Institute. The Technical University, Monywa (Burmese: နည်းပညာတက္ကသိုလ် is located on a 48.209 acre campus in Minywa, Sagaing Division, Myanmar. It was established in 1982 as Technological High School. In 1986 it became Government Technological Institute. In 1999 it was promoted to Government Technological College. In 2007 the school was promoted to university level. Technological University offers Graduate Degree and Post Graduate Degree Programs.

Technological University (Yamethin) is located at Yamethin, Mandalay Region of Myanmar. It was established as the Government Technical Institute (GTI) under the Department of Technological Promotion and Coordination on 11 November 1999. It became Government Technological College (GTC) in 24 April 2009. In 22 April 2010, it developed the Technological University- Yamethin (TU-YMT) under the Ministry of Education (Myanmar).
