Kapsabet is a town in Kenya. It is the capital of Nandi County and is located 40 kilometres southwest of Eldoret on the way to Chavakali.
Nandi County is in the North Rift of Kenya, occupying an area of 2,884.4 square kilometres. Its capital, Kapsabet, is the largest town in the county while other towns include Mosoriot, Tinderet, Kobujoi, Kaiboi, Kabiyet and Nandi Hills. According to a 2019 census, the county had a population of 885,711, made up of a number of Kenyan communities, the majority of whom belong to the native tribe called Nandi.

The counties of Kenya are geographical units envisioned by the 2010 Constitution of Kenya as the units of devolved government. The counties are also single-member constituencies for the election of members of parliament to the Senate of Kenya and special women members of parliament to the National Assembly of Kenya. As of 2013 general elections, there are 47 counties whose size and boundaries are based on the 47 legally recognized districts of Kenya. Following the re-organization of Kenya's national administration, counties were integrated into a new national administration with the national government posting county commissioners to represent it at the counties.

The County Government of Nandi is one of the county governments of the 47 counties of Kenya as established by the Constitution of Kenya enacted in 2010.The county government is led by the County Governor, his deputy and 10 County Executive Committee members as provided for in the Constitution of Kenya. The first County Governor of Nandi County was Dr.Cleophas Lagat and the first Deputy Governor was Dominic Chepyagan. The Second Governor is H.E Honourable Stephen Kipyego Sang and The Second Deputy Governor is H.E Honourable Yulita Chebotip Mitei. The Constitution of Kenya also provides for legislative house for each county. For the period between March 4, 2014 and the date of the next General election in Kenya, the Nandi County Assembly shall have a Speaker, representatives of the 30 wards of Nandi County and other nominated members representing women, the youth and the disabled members of the society as provided for in the Constitution of Kenya.
