The Great Britain women's national American football team are the official American football senior national team of Great Britain.

History

The team competed at the 2015 European Championship, where they finished second after losing to Finland in the final game. [1] They then participated in the 2017 World Championship, where they finished fourth after losing to Mexico in the bronze medal game. [2] Great Britain hosted the 2019 European Championship, where they won a bronze medal. Great Britain forced a three-way tie with winners and runners-up Finland and Sweden, but finished third due to the tournament's tiebreakers. [3] Phoebe Schecter was the captain for both the 2015 and 2019 competitions. [4] [5]

At the 2022 World Championship, Great Britain made it to the final following a winning touchdown with only two seconds to go in the game. [6] In doing so, Great Britain became the first European team to play in an IFAF World Championship final.

The IFAF Women's World Championship is the international championship for women in American football. The first event was held in 2010, in Stockholm, Sweden, with six countries competing. The United States took home the gold while not letting any team they played score. The second event was held in 2013, with Vantaa, Finland, hosting the games. The United States swept the competitors again, winning the gold medal. Third event was played in 2017 with Canada as the host nation. The U.S. took the gold medal for the third time, again beating the host nation Canada in the final.

During his career, he skipped the British men's curling team at the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea, placing fifth. Jennifer Gadirova is an English artistic gymnast of Irish birth and Azerbaijani descent, representing Great Britain internationally. She represented Great Britain at the 2020 Summer Olympics and won a bronze medal in the team event, and was part of the Great Britain team to win silver, their best ever result, in the team event at the 2022 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships and the same medal at the 2022 European Championships. The 2018 IFAF U-19 World Championship was an international American football tournament for junior teams that took place at Mexico City from July 15 to July 22. This was the first time that Mexico hosted an IFAF World Junior Championship competition.

It was held between July 30 and August 7, 2022, after originally having been planned for 2021. The tournament was hosted at Myyrmäen jalkapallostadion in Vantaa, Finland. Phoebe Schecter, born August 24, 1990, is a British-American NFL analyst, gridiron football player and coach best known for her work commentating for Sky Sports NFL coverage, becoming the first female British coach in the NFL, and being the former captain of the Great Britain women's national American football team.
