Greg Frey (born January 29, 1968) is a former American football player.
Frey is a 1986 graduate of St. Xavier High School in Cincinnati, [1] where he played quarterback. As a three-year starting quarterback for the Ohio State Buckeyes, he led the team to two notable come-from-behind wins. On September 24, 1988, he rallied Ohio State from a 33–20 deficit in the final four minutes to a 36–33 victory over the ninth-ranked LSU Tigers. On October 28, 1989, the Buckeyes were losing 31–0 to the Minnesota Golden Gophers. Frey brought the team back for a 41–37 win, throwing a total of 362 yards.
Frey went on to play professional football for the Ohio Glory in the World League of American Football in 1992, and then in the original Arena Football League for the 1993 Cleveland Thunderbolts. [2]
Frey later spent three years as the offensive coordinator for Pickerington High School North, engineering an offense that pushed the team closer to the postseason than any other team in Pickerington North history at that time. He currently offers private coaching services for high school quarterbacks. His best known client was Denver Broncos quarterback Brady Quinn.
A color analyst, Frey broadcast Fox Sports coverage of the AFL's Columbus Destroyers and now calls high school football games on the SportsTime Ohio television network.
Kirk Edward Herbstreit is an American sportscaster and former college football player. He serves as an analyst for ESPN's College GameDay, a television program covering college football, and provides color commentary on college football games on ESPN and ABC and Thursday night NFL games on Prime Video. For his TV work, Herbstreit has won five Sports Emmy Awards in various categories. He appeared annually as a commentator in EA Sports' NCAA Football video game until the series was put on hiatus following NCAA Football 14.

Thad Michael Matta is an American college basketball coach who is currently in his second stint as head coach of the Butler Bulldogs men's basketball team, having been head coach of the Bulldogs for the 2000–01 season. From 2004 to 2017, Matta led the Ohio State Buckeyes to five Big Ten Conference regular season championships, four Big Ten tournament titles, two Final Four appearances, and the 2008 NIT Championship. He is the winningest coach in Ohio State history.

Rex William Kern is an American former professional football player. He played professional football in the National Football League (NFL) at defensive back for the Baltimore Colts and Buffalo Bills. In college, Kern was the quarterback for the Ohio State Buckeyes from 1968 to 1970; the Buckeyes went undefeated in 1968 and were national champions. Kern was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2007.

Thomas Laverne James Jr. was an American football defensive back and punter who played for Ohio State University and the Cleveland Browns in the 1940s and 1950s. He was born in Canton, Ohio and attended Massillon Washington High School, where he played as a back on the football team under head coach Paul Brown. James was a key part of a Massillon team that went undefeated in 1940. After graduating, he followed Brown to Ohio State and played there as a halfback. Ohio State won its first national championship in 1942 when James was on the team.

Aaron Pettrey is an American football placekicker who is currently a free agent. He was formerly a kicker for the Ohio State Buckeyes. Pettrey was signed to the Cincinnati Bengals' roster on November 16, 2010, after a season-ending injury to Mike Nugent, another former Buckeye. Pettrey was waived by the Bengals on November 30, 2010. He was two for four on field goal attempts in two games.
