Ray Mancini, better known as "Boom Boom" Mancini, is an American former professional boxer who competed professionally from 1979 to 1992 and who has since worked as an actor and sports commentator. He held the WBA lightweight title from 1982 to 1984. Mancini inherited his nickname from his father, boxer Lenny Mancini. In 2015, Mancini was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame.

Robert Anthony Stoops is an American football coach who is the head coach for the Arlington Renegades of the United Football League (UFL). He was the head football coach at the University of Oklahoma from 1999 through the 2016 season, and on an interim basis during the 2021 Alamo Bowl. He led the Oklahoma Sooners to a record of 191–48 over his career. His 2000 Oklahoma Sooners football team won the 2001 Orange Bowl, which served as the BCS National Championship Game, and earned a consensus national championship. Since 2020, Stoops has been a head coach with the XFL, coaching the Renegades in 2020 and has been re-signed for 2023. Stoops' Renegades won the XFL Championship in 2023.
James Patrick Tressel is an American college football coach and university administrator who served as president of Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio from 2014 to 2023. Before becoming an administrator, Tressel was the head football coach of the Youngstown State Penguins and later the Ohio State Buckeyes in a career that spanned from 1986 until 2010. Tressel's teams earned several national championships during the course of his career, earning him numerous accolades.

The James Madison Dukes football program represents James Madison University in the sport of American football. He served as the head football coach at Oklahoma City University from 1938 to 1941, Northwestern State College—now known as Northwestern Oklahoma State University—in Alva, Oklahoma in 1942, and Sterling College in Sterling, Kansas from 1949 to 1952. Doenges was known for his creativity in the sport with several attempts to improve the game by making it faster and more enjoyable to watch.

The 1991 Youngstown State Penguins football team represented Youngstown State University in the 1991 NCAA Division I-AA football season. The Penguins were led by sixth-year head coach Jim Tressel and played their home games at Stambaugh Stadium. They finished the season 12–3. They received an at-large bid to the I-AA playoffs, where they defeated Villanova, Nevada, and Samford to advance to the National Championship Game, where they defeated Marshall. This was their first national championship in school history.
Andrew Ogletree is an American professional football tight end for the Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Findlay and Youngstown State.
John David Kinch was a Canadian football player who was a running back and fullback for five seasons in the Canadian Football League (CFL) for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Toronto Argonauts, Ottawa Rough Riders and Saskatchewan Roughriders. He played college football in the United States at Youngstown State and is an inductee to their hall of fame. He later served as a coach.
