Greg McCrae (born January 21, 1998) is an American professional gridiron football running back and slotback for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League (CFL).

College career

McCrae played college football for the UCF Knights from 2017 to 2020. [1]

Professional career

Toronto Argonauts

McCrae signed with the Toronto Argonauts prior to the 2021 season. [2] However, no preseason games were played that year and he was released in training camp on July 27, 2021. [3]

Winnipeg Blue Bombers

On May 6, 2022, it was announced that McCrae had signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. [4] He began the 2022 season on the team's practice roster, but after an injury to Nic Demski in week 3, McCrae made his professional debut on July 4, 2022, against the Toronto Argonauts, where he had three carries for 18 yards and three receptions for -5 yards. [5] [6] Following an injury to Greg Ellingson, McCrae started his first game at slotback on August 25, 2022, against the Calgary Stampeders. [5] [7] In total, he played in 15 regular season games, starting in seven, and recorded 21 carries for 164 yards and 16 receptions for 164 yards and one touchdown. [5] With the Blue Bombers' receivers fully healthy, McCrae did not dress in the post-season, including the 109th Grey Cup loss to the Toronto Argonauts. [5]

In 2023, McCrae again began the season on the practice roster, but was again promoted to the active roster after three weeks and was a starter at slotback. [8] After briefly returning to the practice roster, he dressed in the last two games of the season and played in 11 regular season games while starting in four. [8] For the year, he had 23 carries for 146 yards and 15 catches for 182 yards and two touchdowns. [8]

He was signed by the Arizona Cardinals as an undrafted free agent in 2004. He played college football at Tulsa. He graduated from Western Heights High School in Oklahoma City in 1999.

Archie J. Amerson is an American former professional Canadian football running back and slotback who played in the Canadian Football League (CFL) from 1997 to 2004, appearing in 122 regular season games for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and one regular season game for the Toronto Argonauts. In 1999, he was part of the Tiger-Cats team that won the 87th Grey Cup. He missed the entire 2005 season due to injury and was released by the Tiger-Cats afterwards. At the time of his release, Amerson was one of the most prolific receivers in Tiger-Cats history, ranking third in receptions, fourth in receiving yards, fifth in kickoff return yards, and sixth in touchdowns.

Gerald Alan Alphin is a former professional gridiron football wide receiver and slotback who played eight seasons in the Canadian Football League (CFL) from 1986 to 1996, mainly for the Ottawa Rough Riders and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Alphin played college football at Kansas State University. Alphin recorded four 1,000-yard receiving seasons, including a period of three consecutive 1,000-yard seasons with the Rough Riders during which he was considered one of the best receivers playing in the CFL. He was named an East all-star in 1988.
