The 2023 Winnipeg Blue Bombers season was the 65th season for the team in the Canadian Football League (CFL) and their 90th season overall. The Blue Bombers qualified for the playoffs for the sixth consecutive season and played in their fourth straight Grey Cup game. However, the team lost the 110th Grey Cup to the Montreal Alouettes.

CFL National Draft

The 2023 CFL Draft took place on May 2, 2023. [4] The Blue Bombers had eight selections in the eight-round draft and owned all of their own selections by virtue of not trading any picks. The team had the eighth selection in each of the eight rounds of the draft (not including forfeited picks by other teams) after losing the 109th Grey Cup. [5]

The team defeated the Montreal Alouettes and Toronto Argonauts in the playoffs to qualify for their 22nd Grey Cup game appearance. In a rematch of the previous season's game against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, the Tiger-Cats lost to the Blue Bombers 33–25 in overtime in the 108th Grey Cup game.

The 2021 Saskatchewan Roughriders season was the 63rd season for the team in the Canadian Football League. It was the club's 112th year overall, and its 105th season of play. Although the club failed to record a second consecutive first place finish in the West Division, the Roughriders qualified for the post-season for the fourth consecutive season of play on October 30, 2021 following a win over the Montreal Alouettes. After defeating the Calgary Stampeders in the West Semi-Final, the Roughriders then lost the West Final to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers for the second consecutive season. This was the second season under head coach Craig Dickenson and general manager Jeremy O'Day.

The 2022 CFL National Draft was a selection of National players by Canadian Football League (CFL) teams that took place on May 3, 2022, at 8:00 pm ET and was broadcast on TSN and RDS. 74 players were chosen from among eligible players from Canadian Universities across the country, as well as Canadian players playing in the NCAA.

The Lions clinched a home playoff game on October 22, 2022, for the first time since the 2016 season, following their Week 20 win over the Edmonton Elks. The Argonauts held their training camp on the campus of the University of Guelph in Guelph, Ontario.
