The American Football League (AFL) was a major professional American football league that operated for ten seasons from 1960 until 1970, when it merged with the older National Football League (NFL), and became the American Football Conference. The upstart AFL operated in direct competition with the more established NFL throughout its existence. It was more successful than earlier rivals to the NFL with the same name, the 1926, 1936 and 1940 leagues, and the later All-America Football Conference.
William Lewis Shaw is an American former professional football player who played as a guard for the Buffalo Bills in the American Football League (AFL). After playing college football for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, he was drafted by the Bills. Shaw was the prototypical "pulling guard" who despite his size held his own against much bigger defensive linemen like Ernie Ladd, Earl Faison and Buck Buchanan. Eric Jevon England is an American former professional football player who was a defensive end. He most recently played with the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League (CFL). England also played in the National Football League (NFL), the XFL and the Arena Football League (AFL). Most recently, England was signed by the New York Sentinels of the UFL. He was later cut from the team.
Richard Paul Anderson is an American former professional football player who was a safety for the Miami Dolphins of the American Football League (AFL) and National Football League (NFL) for nine seasons during the 1960s and 1970s. He played college football for the Colorado Buffaloes and was recognized as a consensus All-American. Steven Cyril DeLong was an American professional football defensive lineman who played in the American Football League (AFL) and National Football League (NFL). He was a first round draft selection in both the AFL and NFL drafts in 1965. He played collegiately for the University of Tennessee, and professionally for the San Diego Chargers and Chicago Bears. In 1969 with San Diego, he set a team record with 17 sacks, a mark which stood until Gary Johnson had 17+1⁄2 in 1980. He was traded from the Chargers to the Bears on July 26, 1972, for a fourth-round selection in the 1973 NFL draft.

Coleman only had two career receptions in the NFL, but one was a vital 46 yard slant play during the New England Patriots' 17–16 comeback win in Week 12 in 2001 against the Jets. His other catch came in week 17 against the Panthers. Coleman was also a contributor on special teams, as the Patriots made their way through the playoffs and onto the victory in Super Bowl XXXVI.
Vantonio Bernard Bowick is a former American football player who played in the National Football League (NFL) for the Atlanta Falcons and a former Arena Football League player with a 13-season career. He was drafted in the 12th round of the 1989 NFL Draft by Atlanta.
