Gru 2 is the second studio album published by Serbian recording artist Gru. [1] Gru 2 remains Gru's most critically acclaimed album, and it is considered the most commercially successful album in Serbia to date, selling 4 million copies, and certified gold in Serbia. [2]

Contents

Gru 2 included songs with a wide range of themes, from emotional ballads (Dosta mi je svega) to gangster anthems (Srce). The album was produced by producer Srđan Babović and Dalibor Andonov, on behalf of the label Komuna, and it was recorded at Studio Puž. Other than the success of Biću tu, chart-topping hits generated from the album include Leto, Srce, Petak, Čovek je čoveku vuk and Dosta mi je svega. [3]

Reception

Gru 2 received universal acclaim from critics. [4] [5] Music critic and guitarist Dragan Brajović Braja credited the album "for finding the perfect balance of underground and commercialisation". [6] [7] [8] Stanislav Nušić stated the album is "Gru's magnum opus and quite possibly one of the greatest Serbian-language hip-hop albums of all time." [9] Danilo Milivojević called the album "a turning point in Serbian culture, which the Serbian rap scene needed". [10]

Accolades

The album was polled number 1 on Kurir's list of the "Top 10 Best Albums of 1996". [11] [12] The album was polled at number 25 on Dragan Marinković's list of the "Top 50 Greatest Serbian Albums", the highest rap album on the list. [13] The song Srce won Andonov a World Music Award. [14]

Nikolija Jovanović is a Serbian singer and rapper. Daughter of folk singer Vesna Zmijanac, Jovanović was born in Zagreb and raised in Belgrade. Nikolija debuted in 2013 with the single "Ćao zdravo" and has since released four studio albums: №1 (2016), Yin & Yang (2019), Aurora (2022) and Lavina (2024), as well as numerous other standalone singles. Dalibor Andonov, known professionally as Gru, was a Serbian musician, DJ, rapper and actor. His song Biću tu from the 1996 album Gru 2, gained him popularity in Eastern Europe, as well as the 2010 release I dalje me žele alongside Serbian rapper Ajs Nigrutin. His album Gru 2 is the most commercially successful album in Serbia, selling four million copies, and reaching certified gold status in Serbia. Other than his immense popularity in the Balkans, he is well known in other countries of Eastern and Northern Europe. He has been dubbed The Serbian Rap Machine.

"Biću tu" is a song recorded by Serbian recording artist Gru for his second studio album, Gru 2. <i>Da li imaš pravo?</i> 1995 studio album by Gru

Da li imaš pravo? is the debut studio album by Serbian recording artist and producer Gru. With production done by Jugodisk and City Records, this album marked the first wave of Serbian hip-hop. The album was certified gold in Serbia, and included the eponymous song Da li imaš pravo, which was a number one song on the Serbian charts for 5 consecutive weeks.

He debuted on the Serbian music scene in 1995 with his debut album Da li imaš pravo?, produced by Jugodisk, but rose to prominence with his 1996 release Gru 2, which became the most commercially successful album in Serbia to date, selling 4 million copies. All of his singles discography include vocals from featured artists, and it's featured in the documentary done as a collective work with other hip-hop vocalists titled Stani na put. <i>Vetrenjače</i> 1999 studio album by Gru

Vetrenjače is the third studio album published by Serbian musician and producer Gru. The album was certified gold in Serbia, and it won him the Serbian Oscar of Popularity for Best Concert in 1999. It also featured the chart-topping song Adrenaline Junkie, featured in the soundtrack for the American film Undisputed II: Last Man Standing.

"I dalje me žele" is a song recorded and written by Serbian rappers Gru and Ajs Nigrutin of Bad Copy. The song was number 1 in Serbia for 8 consecutive weeks and reached number 1 in Montenegro, Croatia, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Poland, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Republic of Macedonia. The song was nominated for the MTV Platinum Awards in the category for Best Singles.

Bogdan Ilić, better known as Baka Prase, is a Serbian YouTuber, internet personality, rapper, gamer, actor and entertainer. He is also the founder of the Serbian brand known as ŠAIM SE. Ilić's YouTube channel name comes from the preschool cartoon Peppa Pig.
