The Dark Side of the Moon is the eighth studio album by the English rock band Pink Floyd, released on 1 March 1973 by Harvest Records. Primarily developed during live performances, the band premiered an early version of the suite several months before recording began. The record was conceived as an album that focused on the pressures faced by the band during their arduous lifestyle, and dealing with the apparent mental health problems suffered by former band member Syd Barrett, who departed the group in 1968. New material was recorded in two sessions in 1972 and 1973 at Abbey Road Studios in London.
Let It Be is the twelfth and final studio album by the English rock band the Beatles. The critical response was generally unfavourable, and Let It Be came to be regarded as one of the most controversial rock albums in history.
Worldwide, the English rock band the Beatles released 21 studio albums, five live albums, 54 compilation albums, 36 extended play singles, 63 singles, 17 box sets, 22 video albums and 68 music videos. In their native United Kingdom, they released 12 studio albums, 13 extended plays (EPs), including one double EP, and 22 singles. Their UK discography is considered the "core catalogue", as it contains the albums, EPs and singles released the way the band intended. The only exception to this is Magical Mystery Tour, as the US LP was added to the core catalogue in 1988. Their output also includes vault items, remixed mash-ups and anniversary box-sets.
