Gul Mustafa Dev was the first Indian Olympian from the state of Jammu and Kashmir, who represented India in the Winter Olympic Games, with two other participants at the 1988 Winter Olympics held at Calgary, Canada (see India at the 1988 Winter Olympics). [1]
Apart from participating in the Olympics, Gul Dev was among the first to represent team India at the first Asian Winter Games, which were held from 1 to 8 March 1986 in Sapporo, Hokkaidō, Japan. He also went as a national coach for team India to the Junior Asian Winter Games held at China in 2005. He was the Indian team leader for Treofeo Pinocchio Sugli Sci, held in Italy in 2009. [2] He was the Recipient of the Award Of Excellence In Sports for Jammu and Kashmir in 2011.[ clarification needed ]

Kathua is a city and municipal council of the Jammu division of Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir in the disputed Kashmir region. The city is the headquarters of Kathua district and is divided into 27 wards which constitute the Kathua Municipal Council. Panthers party has maintained power at assembly and the local level for over four decades in its stronghold within the mountainous Udhampur constituency, where in the vicinity 5.9 million tonnes of Jammu and Kashmir lithium reserves, the 7th largest known reserve in the world, with an estimated value of $500 billion, was discovered in February 2023.
The Jammu and Kashmir cricket team is a cricket team based in the Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, run by JKCA. It is in the Elite Group C of the Ranji Trophy. Its main home ground is the Sher-i-Kashmir Stadium in Srinagar, and it also plays at Gandhi Memorial Science College Ground in Jammu.
Abdul Majeed Kakroo is a retired Indian footballer from Kashmir who played as a striker and he represented India at the 1984 Asian Cup. He became the first player from Kashmir to captain India when he captained the team during the 1987 Nehru Cup. He played for both Mohun Bagan and East Bengal during his club career. One of the stands at the TRC Turf Ground has been named after him by Real Kashmir FC.

Jagdish Singh is an Indian cross-country skier, who represented India at 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang. He competed in men's 15 km freestyle cross-country skiing. He qualified in the Olympics for the first time.
