In artistic gymnastics, team, individual all-around, and individual events were held for both men and women. The top nations qualified for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. In rhythmic gymnastics, individual and group competitions were held. In aerobic gymnastics, mixed pairs, trios, group, aero-dance, and aero-step competitions were held.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Gymnastics at the Summer World University Games</span>

Gymnastics is a sport at the World University Games that was first contested in 1961 as an optional sport and turned compulsory sport in 1963 and since then it has been out of the program twice in 1975 and 1989. In 1973, for the first time a competition in apparatus was added to the program and would become mandatory in 1979. In 1991, rhythmic gymnastics was one of the two optional sports chosen by the organizers and was present with the same status in 1995 in 1997, becoming a compulsory sport in 2001. At the 2011 edition, aerobic gymnastics was also part of the program.

Artistic gymnastics was contested at the 2017 Summer Universiade from August 19 to 23, and rhythmic gymnastics was contested from August 27 to 29, both events was held at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center in Taipei, Taiwan.
