Artistic Gymnastics was one of the seven sports of the 2011 Commonwealth Youth Games . Between 9 and 11 September 2011, the girls' events were held in Manx Gymnastics Centre of Excellence and the boys' events were held at the Ellan Vannin Gymnastics Club, both in Douglas, Isle of Man. [1] Artistic gymnastics was previously held at the Commonwealth Youth Games in 2004 and 2000, but it has not been held since.

Each Commonwealth Games Association could send a team of up to three athletes in girls and boys each. [1] The age limit for the girls' events was 13-15 (born 1996-1998) and for boys, it was 14-18 (born 1993-1997). [2] In the girls competition, twenty-eight gymnasts from thirteen countries competed, and in the boys event, twenty-six gymnasts from twelve countries competed. [2]

England won both the boys and girls team titles. [2] Dominick Cunningham from England was the most successful gymnast of the event with three gold medals, one silver medal, and one bronze medal. [3] Overall, England was the most successful country of the event- winning eight out of the fourteen gold medal awarded as well as five silver medals and five bronze medals.

The 2011 Commonwealth Youth Games, officially known as the IV Commonwealth Youth Games, and commonly known as Isle Of Man 2011, is a multi-sport event which took place from 7 to 13 September 2011 in the British Crown Dependency of Isle of Man. As per the original quadrennial cycle, the Games were scheduled for 2012. However, the Commonwealth Games Federation at its general assembly in 2005 decided to move the Games within one year before the Summer Olympics. The Bowl Stadium at the National Sports Centre, Douglas staged the opening ceremony on 7 September 2011. The closing ceremony was held on Douglas Promenade & the Villa Marina on 13 September.

For a small country, sport in the Isle of Man plays an important part in making the island known to the wider world. The principal international sporting event held on the island is the annual Isle of Man TT motorcycling event. SS <i>Ellan Vannin</i> (1883)

SS (RMS) Ellan Vannin was built as an iron paddle steamer in 1860 at Meadowside, Glasgow for the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company. She was originally named Mona's Isle - the second ship in the company's history to be so named. She served for 23 years under that name before being rebuilt, re-engined and renamed in 1883. As Ellan Vannin she served for a further 26 years before being lost in a storm on 3 December 1909 in Liverpool Bay.

The Liberal Vannin Party is a political party in the Isle of Man. It was founded in 2006 by Peter Karran, then an Independent MHK for Onchan. Karran had been, until 2004, a member of the Manx Labour Party. The "Vannin" in the party name is a form of the name of the Isle of Man in the native Manx Gaelic language, while "Liberal" is a reference to the general political position of the party. The party is currently led by Lawrie Hooper MHK.

Lauren Stephanie Mitchell is an Australian former artistic gymnast. She is the 2010 World champion on the floor exercise and the 2009 World Championships silver medalist on the balance beam and floor exercise. Mitchell is only the second Australian female gymnast to win a medal at the World Championships, and she is the first to win a gold medal. She is the 2010 Commonwealth Games champion in the all-around, uneven bars, and balance beam, and with the Australian team, and she is the 2008 World Cup Final balance beam champion. She also represented Australia at the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games.

The Ellan Vannin Football Team is a football team that represents the Isle of Man. It is not affiliated with FIFA or UEFA, and therefore cannot compete for the FIFA World Cup or in the UEFA European Championship.

SS (RMS) Ellan Vannin was an iron-built packet steamer which was operated out of Castletown, Isle of Man for the Castletown Steam Navigation Company to Liverpool and Whitehaven. Her name, Ellan Vannin, came from the Gaelic term by which the Isle of Man is known.

Charlie Fellows is a British artistic gymnast. She was a reserve gymnast for the 2014 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Nanning, China, and the 2015 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Glasgow, Scotland.

The 2015 Northern European Gymnastics Championships was an artistic gymnastics competition held in the city of Limerick in the mid-west of the Republic of Ireland. The event was held between the 18th and 20 September at the University of Limerick.

Georgia Godwin is an Australian artistic gymnast. She is the 2022 Commonwealth Games all-around and vault champion and the team, uneven bars and balance beam silver-medalist. She is also the 2018 Commonwealth Games all-around silver medalist and the team and uneven bars bronze medalist. She represented Australia at the 2020 Summer Olympics and was the third reserve for the all-around final. She is also a two-time World Cup silver medalist.

The COVID-19 pandemic in the Isle of Man is part of the worldwide pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The virus was confirmed to have reached the British crown dependency of the Isle of Man on 19 March 2020, when a man returning from Spain via Liverpool tested positive. Community transmission was first confirmed on 22 March on the island.

Rianna Leigh Mizzen is an Australian former artistic gymnast. She was a member of the teams that won bronze medals at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and the 2016 Pacific Rim Championships. She is the 2016 Australian all-around champion and a three-time Australian champion on the uneven bars.

Tara Megan Donnelly is a Manx artistic gymnast. She is the 2021 Northern European champion on floor exercise. She previously represented Ireland in international competition.

The Isle of Man national badminton team represents the Isle of Man in international badminton team competitions. It is controlled by the Isle of Man Badminton Association, the organization for badminton Isle of Man. The Manx team first competed in the Commonwealth Games in 2010.
