HMSHost is an American highway and airport food-service company, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Swiss company Dufry. As of 2014 [update] , Steve Johnson is the CEO of HMSHost.
The company's origins are in the Van Noy Railway News and Hotel Company founded in 1897 by the Van Noy Brothers of Kansas City, Missouri.
On January 2, 1996, Host Marriott Services Corporation was created when Host Marriott Corporation divided into two separate companies. Host Marriott continued to own lodging real estate. Host Marriott Services Corporation held and operates concessions at airports, at rest stops on toll roads and freeways and at sports and entertainment attractions. Autogrill S.p.A. acquired the company in 1999, creating HMSHost. Dufry acquired the company from Autogrill in early 2023.
Along the way, the company grew through its many acquisitions. It found itself with airport contracts in 18 of the 20 largest airports in the United States. Through Kilmer Host Service Centres, a joint venture with the Canadian company Kilmer van Nostrand, HMSHost is also a partner in ONroute service centres in the Canadian province of Ontario. [1] Today the company manages franchise locations in 120 airports across North America and 80 highway stops in the northeastern and midwestern United States.
In 2021, HMSHost sold their United States toll road service area operations to Iris Buyer, LLC, a consortium of Blackstone Infrastructure Partners and Applegreen for $375 million. [2]

The Van Noy Railway News and Hotel Company, known today as HMSHost, was a business founded by the Van Noy Brothers of Kansas City, Missouri, which developed at the beginning of the twentieth century to provide services to travelers aboard passenger trains. At a time when most passenger trains carried neither dining cars nor lounge cars, private businessmen such as the Van Noys recognized a profit opportunity by operating eating houses at railroad junction points and selling snacks and novelties aboard the trains.
Henry Clay Van Noy was a prominent Kansas City, Missouri, businessman and was the last surviving member of the legendary Van Noy Brothers of Kansas City - brothers who founded the company which a century later has evolved into HMSHost company. Born to Dr. Henry Clay Van Noy and Catherine S. Raber, he is also the great-grandson of Barbourville, Kentucky, pioneer William Van Noy.
King's Highway 400, commonly referred to as Highway 400, historically as the Toronto–Barrie Highway, and colloquially as the 400, is a 400-series highway in the Canadian province of Ontario linking the city of Toronto in the urban and agricultural south of the province with the scenic and sparsely populated central and northern regions. The highway is patrolled by the Ontario Provincial Police and has a speed limit of 100 km/h (62 mph), except for the section south of the 401, where the speed limit is 80 km/h (50 mph).
