Halkara, also known as The Postman, is a 2022 Nepalese drama film directed by Bikram Sapkota which features Mahesh Tripathi and Binita Thapa Magar in the titular role. On 18 September 2023, the film was selected as the Nepalese entry for Best International Feature Film at the 96th Academy Awards. [1]

Release and reception

Halkara had its world premiere on April 23, 2022, at the 55th WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival. [2] It was commercially released on May 12, 2023, in Nepalese theaters.

Critical response

Saugat Nepal reviewing for The Kathmandu Post praised the film describing it as "a captivating tale of letters and hope". He praised the direction writing, "Kudos to director Bikram Sapkota for crafting such a unique and delightful film." He also comended the performance of the lead actors, screenplay, cinematography and music. [3]

"Melancholy" is an environmentally-themed song sung by 365 Nepali artists. This song was intended to promote an environmental message by breaking the Guinness World Records for "Most Vocal Solos in a Song Recording", which it successfully did. It was written, music composed and directed by environmentalist Nipesh Dhaka. The song was recorded as a single on 19 May 2016. The recording sessions were inaugurated by Prime Minister Khadga Prasad Oli at 8 am and continued until 6 pm. The song was released on 2 September 2017 by President Bidya Devi Bhandari at Army Officer's Club, Kathmandu.

Pashupati Prasad 2: Bhasme Don is a 2023 Nepali film that is the sequel to the movie Pashupati Prasad, which is written and directed by Dipendra K. Khanal. Released on October 21, 2023, the film stars Bipin Karki, Saugat Malla, Swastima Khadka, Prakash Ghimire, and more. The film met with negative to mixed reviews from critics with many critics and audience criticizing its lack of newness in story, screenplay, direction but performances of the cast met with praise. The film broke several opening day records and went on to become one of the highest grossing film of all time in Nepal.
