The Sportfreunde Hamborn 07 are a German association football club based in Hamborn, a district in the north of Duisburg.

History

The club has its origin in 1903, when the Ballspiel-Club Hamborn was founded, which merged four years later with the SV Marxloh to the SV Hamborn 07. In 1954, the current club was created after the merger of SV Hamborn 07 and the Sportfreunde Hamborn.

Before the formation of the Bundesliga, the SV Hamborn 07 competed in the Oberliga West division. Their highest finish in the league was in 1948, when they finished in 4th place.

The club now plays in the tier seven Bezirksliga Niederrhein after relegation from the Oberliga Niederrhein in 2013 and the Landesliga Niederrhein in 2014. [1]

Sportfreunde Baumberg is a German amateur football club from the neighbourhood of Baumberg in Monheim am Rhein, North Rhine-Westphalia. Founded in 1962, the team plays in the Oberliga Niederrhein in the fifth tier of the German football league system.

The 2015–16 season of the Oberliga was the eighth season of the Oberligas at tier five of the German football league system and the 42nd season overall since reintroduction of the Oberligas in 1974. The regular season started on 17 July 2015 and finished on 12 June 2016.

The five league champions and the runners-up from the west, south, southwest and north then entered the 1960 German football championship which was won by Hamburger SV. It was Hamburg's fourth national championship and its first since 1928.

1957–58 Oberliga

The 1957–58 Oberliga was the thirteenth season of the Oberliga, the first tier of the football league system in West Germany. The league operated in five regional divisions, Berlin, North, South, Southwest and West. The five league champions and the runners-up from the west, south, southwest and north then entered the 1959 German football championship which was won by FC Schalke 04. It was Schalke's seventh and last national championship and its first since 1942.

1955–56 Oberliga

The 1955–56 Oberliga was the eleventh season of the Oberliga, the first tier of the football league system in West Germany and the Saar Protectorate. The league operated in five regional divisions, Berlin, North, South, Southwest and West. The five league champions and the runners-up from the west, south, southwest and north then entered the 1956 German football championship which was won by Borussia Dortmund. It was Borussia Dortmund's first-ever national championship and second appearance in the championship final, having previously lost to VfR Mannheim in 1949.

The Western German Cup was a cup competition organised by the Western German Football Association, which was played from the 1949–50 season up to the 1973–74 season. The best teams then qualified for the following season of the DFB-Pokal. In the years 1954 to 1960, only the Western German Cup winner participated in the DFB-Pokal. In the 1954–55 season, there was no competition.
