Hamilton Bobby (died 10 December 2011) was an Indian international footballer.

Career

Bobby played for Tamil Nadu between 1992, [1] and 2000, captaining them twice in the Santosh Trophy. [2] [3] [4] He was selected as the best player of the 1992 Santosh Trophy [5] despite missing a penalty kick in Tamil Nadu's loss to Goa in the shootout in the semifinal. [6]

He also represented India at under-16, under-23 and full international level, playing at the President's Cup. [2] [3] [4]

Personal life

He was the younger brother of fellow player Xavier Pius. [2] [3] [4]

He died on 10 December 2011 from a heart attack, aged 44. [2] [3] [4]

The National Football Championship for Santosh Trophy, due to sponsorship ties with Hero MotoCorp also known as the Hero National Football Championship, or simply Santosh Trophy, is a state-level national football competition contested by the state associations and government institutions under the All India Football Federation (AIFF), the sport's governing body in India. Before the starting of the first national club league, the National Football League in 1996, the Santosh Trophy was considered the top domestic honour in India. Many players who have represented India internationally, played and gained honour while playing in the Santosh Trophy. The tournament is held every year with eligible teams who are divided into zones, must play in the qualifying round and can progress into the tournament proper. The current champions are Karnataka, who won their title after 54 years during the 2022-23 edition. This was the first trophy for Karnataka, which had previously won four times as the princely state of Mysore, after a gap of 54 years.

Brahmanand Sagoon Kamat Sankhwalkar is a former Indian footballer and a captain of the Indian team from 1983 to 1986, who played as a goalkeeper. Considered one of India's best goalkeepers, he had 25-year playing career. He played for Panvel Sports Club, Salgaocar, Churchill Brothers, Anderson Mariners at the club level, that included 17 years with Salgaocar, and for Goa state team in the Santosh Trophy. The 2014 Santosh Trophy was the 68th edition of the Santosh Trophy, the main state competition in Indian football. The tournament was held in two phases. The final phase was held in Siliguri, West Bengal between 24 February and 9 March 2014. The zone competitions were held between January 26 and February 4, 2014. In the finals, played at Kanchenjunga Stadium, Siliguri, debutant Mizoram beat the Railways 3–0 to clinch the trophy, and the Rs 500,000 prize money, while the runners up Railways received Rs. 300,000.
