The University of Colorado (CU) is a system of public universities in Colorado. It consists of four institutions:the University of Colorado Boulder,the University of Colorado Colorado Springs,the University of Colorado Denver,and the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. It is governed by the elected,nine-member board of regents.

Following a career as a business executive,he was a Republican member of the United States House of Representatives from Minnesota from 2001 to 2007. Kennedy did not seek reelection in 2006,instead running in the 2006 election for U.S. Senate. He lost to Democratic–Farmer–Labor nominee Amy Klobuchar.

The Trustees of Columbia University in the City of New York is the governing board of Columbia University in New York City. Founded in 1754,it is also referred to as the Columbia Corporation,as distinguished from affiliates of the university that are separate legal entities,such as Barnard College. The board of trustees was originally composed of ex officio members including officials from the New York colonial government,crown officials,and various Protestant ministers from the city. Following the college's resuscitation following the American Revolutionary War,it was placed under the control of the Board of Regents of the University of the State of New York,and the university would finally come under the control of a private board of trustees in 1787. The board is notable for having administered the Pulitzer Prize from the prize's establishment until 1975. It consists of 24 members and as of 2021 is co-chaired by Lisa Carnoy and Jonathan Lavine.
Robert Warren Schaffer is an American businessman and a former Republican member of the United States House of Representatives from the State of Colorado in the 105th Congress and the two succeeding Congresses. Schaffer was co-chairman of the Congressional Ukrainian Caucus,and an outspoken leader in promoting American interests and human rights in Eastern Europe.

Ward LeRoy Churchill is an American activist and author. He was a professor of ethnic studies at the University of Colorado Boulder from 1990 until 2007. Much of Churchill's work focuses on the historical treatment of political dissenters and Native Americans by the United States government,and he expresses controversial views in a direct,often confrontational style. While Churchill has claimed Native American ancestry,genealogical research has failed to unearth such ancestry and he is not a member of a tribe.

George Leslie Brown was an American politician. He served in the Colorado Senate from 1955 to 1974 and as the 40th Lieutenant Governor of Colorado from 1975 to 1979. He was also a senior vice president with Grumman Corporation. During World War II,he served as a Tuskegee Airman. Together with California's Mervyn Dymally,he was one of the first two Black lieutenant-governors since Reconstruction and outside any southern state.

The University of Colorado Denver is a public research university located in downtown Denver,Colorado. It is part of the University of Colorado system. Established in 1912 as an extension of the University of Colorado Boulder,CU Denver attained university status and became an independent institution in 1973. CU Denver is the largest research university in Colorado,and is classified among R1:Doctoral Universities - Very High Research Activity. The university's graduate programs award more master's degrees than any other institution in the state,serving roughly 5,000 students annually.
A general election was held in the U.S. state of Colorado on November 6,2018. All of Colorado's executive offices and all seven of its seats in the United States House of Representatives were up for election. Democrats swept the statewide offices up for election,leaving the Class 2 U.S. Senate seat as the last statewide office held by a Republican.
The 2022 United States Senate election in Colorado was held on November 8,2022,to elect a member of the United States Senate to represent the State of Colorado. Incumbent Democratic Senator Michael Bennet won reelection to a third full term,defeating Republican businessman Joe O'Dea. Originally appointed to the seat in 2009,Bennet won full terms in 2010 and 2016.
In 1893,Colorado became the second state in the United States to grant women's suffrage and the first to do so through a voter referendum. Even while Colorado was a territory,lawmakers and other leaders tried to include women's suffrage in laws and later in the state constitution. The constitution did give women the right to vote in school board elections. The first voter referendum campaign was held in 1877. The Woman Suffrage Association of Colorado worked to encourage people to vote yes. Nationally-known suffragists,such as Susan B. Anthony and Lucy Stone spoke alongside Colorado's own Alida Avery around the state. Despite the efforts to influence voters,the referendum failed. Suffragists continued to grow support for women's right to vote. They exercised their right to vote in school board elections and ran for office. In 1893,another campaign for women's suffrage took place. Both Black and white suffragists worked to influence voters,gave speeches,and turned out on election day in a last-minute push. The effort was successful and women earned equal suffrage. In 1894,Colorado again made history by electing three women to the Colorado house of representatives. After gaining the right to vote,Colorado women continued to fight for suffrage in other states. Some women became members of the Congressional Union (CU) and pushed for a federal suffrage amendment. Colorado women also used their right to vote to pass reforms in the state and to support women candidates.
