Happy Sardar [1] is a 2019 Indian Malayalam-language romantic comedy-drama film co-written and directed by debutant directorial duo Sudip Joshy and Geethika Sudip. An Indian remake of the French film Serial (Bad) Weddings , it is the first Malayalam film directed by a couple. [2] [3]

Synopsis

Happy Singh is a happy-go-lucky young man who was born to a Punjabi father Inderpal Singh and a Malayali mother Annamma. He falls in love with Mary Kochara, the youngest daughter of Joyce Kochara and Reetha Kochara.

Happy Sardar narrates how Happy and Mary win over each other's parents and get married with their blessings. [4]

In February 2019, it was reported that Kalidas Jayaram will be playing the male lead along with Bollywood actor Javed Jaffrey in an important role. [7] [8] On 16 February, Jaffrey was confirmed to be playing Kalidas's father with Merin Philip as the female lead. [9] Merin was previously seen in Poomaram starring Kalidas in a supporting role. [10] Kalidas joined the sets in Patiala in March 2019. [11] Times of India reported on 19 September that Kalidas, playing a Sikh character will have Aanandam fame Siddhi Mahajankatti as the female lead. [12]

Betaab (Restless) is a 1983 Indian romance film written by Javed Akhtar, directed by Rahul Rawail and produced by Bikram Singh Dehal. The plot of the film was loosely based on William Shakespeare’s The Taming Of The Shrew. The film stars Sunny Deol and Amrita Singh in their debut roles along with Shammi Kapoor. The music was composed by Rahul Dev Burman. The opening of Betaab started in 1981 with the presence of Dilip Kumar, Saira Banu, Raj Kapoor, and Dharmendra. Before the release of Betaab, Sunny Deol also had a small role in the film Main Inteqam Loonga 1982 which his father Dharmendra was the hero of the film. Betaab was a commercial success and went on to be one of the biggest hits of the year, emerging as the 2nd highest grossing Indian film of 1983. The film was remade in Telugu as Samrat in 1987, with Ramesh Babu and Sonam, and in Kannada as Karthik in 2011.

Singh Is Kinng is a 2008 Indian Hindi-language action comedy film directed by Anees Bazmee from a screenplay by Bazmee and Suresh Nair. The film stars Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Om Puri, Ranvir Shorey, Neha Dhupia, Javed Jaffrey, Sonu Sood, and Sudhanshu Pandey. In the film, Happy Singh (Kumar) is sent to Australia to reunite Lakhan Singh (Sood), a crime boss, with his ill father but finds himself facing love and trouble instead. The film also featured a song and a music video with American rapper Snoop Dogg. A major part of the film was shot in Australia. The film marked the fourth collaboration of Kumar and Kaif after Humko Deewana Kar Gaye (2006), Namastey London (2007) and Welcome (2007). The spelling of the word "king" in the film's title with an additional letter "n" was based on advice provided by a numerologist.
