Harbor Country is a region of Southwestern Michigan just north of the Indiana state line. It is notable as a popular, upscale weekend getaway destination, particularly for Chicagoans looking to enjoy the region's beaches, bed and breakfasts, and wineries. [1] [2]

Geographic regions and sub-regions are mostly described by their imprecisely defined, and sometimes transitory boundaries, except in human geography, where jurisdiction areas such as national borders are defined in law.
West Michigan and Western Michigan are terms for an arbitrary region in the U.S. state of Michigan's Lower Peninsula. Most narrowly it refers to the Grand Rapids-Muskegon-Holland area, or more broadly to most of the region along the Lake Michigan shoreline of the Lower Peninsula, but there is no official definition for it.

The region consists of eight small towns along the eastern shore of Lake Michigan in Berrien County: New Buffalo, Union Pier, Three Oaks, Lakeside, Grand Beach, Michiana, Harbert, and Sawyer.
A shore or a shoreline is the fringe of land at the edge of a large body of water, such as an ocean, sea, or lake. In physical oceanography, a shore is the wider fringe that is geologically modified by the action of the body of water past and present, while the beach is at the edge of the shore, representing the intertidal zone where there is one. In contrast to a coast, a shore can border any body of water, while the coast must border an ocean; in that sense a coast is a type of shore; however, coast often refers to an area far wider than the shore, often stretching miles into the interior.
Lake Michigan is one of the five Great Lakes of North America and the only one located entirely within the United States. It is the second-largest of the Great Lakes by volume and the third-largest by surface area, after Lake Superior and Lake Huron. To the east, its basin is conjoined with that of Lake Huron through the wide Straits of Mackinac, giving it the same surface elevation as its easterly counterpart; the two are technically a single lake.
Berrien County is a county on the south line of Michigan, at the southwestern corner of the state. As of the 2010 census, the population was 156,813. The county seat is St. Joseph.

It primarily serves the residents of, and their guests and other visitors to, the small communities of Harbor Country, a rural resort region bordering Lake Michigan in southwestern Berrien County, Michigan. Printed every Thursday, Harbor Country News bills itself as "southwestern Berrien County’s best source for local news, sports, entertainment, things to do, and great places to shop!" While the news and advertising offices are located in New Buffalo, Michigan, the paper is printed in nearby Michigan City, Indiana.
