Hardanger Musikkfest

Hardanger Musikkfest or The Hardanger Music Festival is an annual music festival. In November 2021, media wrote that it is scheduled for later that month. [1]

Previously it had been held every Pentecost since 1996. In June, Hardanger Musikkfest arranges about 40 concerts over five days in the Hardanger municipalities Ullensvang, Odda, Eidfjord and Jondal (5.-10. juni 2019). [2]

The festival program mainly comprises Chamber music and Contemporary folke music from Hardanger and Norway in general. At the Hardanger conference in Ulvik it was announced byTora Augestad that 'Hiking' will be the theme of the festival in 2019.

The main base at the Hardanger Music Festival is in Lofthus in Ullensvang, the largest venues are Fjordahallen in Kinsarvik and Kraftkatedalen in Tyssedal.

Each year a number of renowned Norwegian and international musicians play at Hardanger Music Festival. The music festival was initiated by concertmaster Stig Nilsson of the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra.

Arne Nordheim Norwegian composer

Arne Nordheim was a Norwegian composer. Nordheim received numerous awards for his compositions, and from 1982 lived in the Norwegian government's honorary residence, Grotten, next to the Royal Palace in Oslo. He was elected an honorary member of the International Society for Contemporary Music in 1997. On 18 August 2006, Arne Nordheim received a doctor honoris causa degree at the Norwegian Academy of Music. He died at the age of 78 and was given a state funeral.

Pitsj

Pitsj is a female Norwegian a cappella quintet. The band consists of Anine and Benedikte Kruse, the twin sisters Ane Carmen and Ida Roggen, and Anja Eline Skybakmoen.

Ensemble 96 is a Norwegian chamber choir located in Oslo. The choir works mainly with contemporary music and is partly funded by government grants. It has released several CDs, and given concerts and participated in national and international choral competitions. Ensemble 96 has just under 30 members.

Tora Karen Elisabeth Augestad is a Norwegian mezzosoprano, musical conductor and actor. Her stage debut was the lead role in "Annie" in 1994, and won the Norwegian talent competition in 1993 at TV 2. Augestad has received Spellemannprisen and other awards for her albums. Marcus Nicolay Paus is a Norwegian composer and one of the most performed contemporary Scandinavian composers. As a classical contemporary composer he is noted as a representative of a reorientation toward tradition, tonality and melody, and his works have been lauded by critics in Norway and abroad. His work includes chamber music, choral works, solo works, concerts, orchestral works, operas, symphonies and church music, as well as works for theatre, film and television. Paus is regarded as "one of the most celebrated classical composers of Norway" and "the leading Norwegian composer of his generation."

Ingrid Søfteland Neset is a Norwegian Classical flautist living in Stavanger (2017). She is the daughter of music teachers guitarist Terje Neset and pianist Anne Leni Søfteland Sæbø, and the sister of the vocalist Anna Søfteland Neset and jazz saxophonist Marius Søfteland Neset. She is known from numerous performances with orchestras like Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra and in concerts and recordings with her older brother Marius Neset.
